How much did the medical come to and how many shots did your fiancé take?

He went to a clinic beforehand so he wouldn't have to get any shots at the medical.  The clinic was free (Canadian healthcare is awesome).  I can't remember exactly how much the actual medical cost (my fiancé paid for it and the visa fees are all blurred together in my brain right now), but it was several hundred dollars US.  It varies by country.  Here is a list from RapidVisa, although I'm not sure how accurate it is:

It isn't so accurate because they have many different places to get your medical done & on the rapid visa it only has the capital of the country.. but $130 sounds good.

If you go to your own medical clinic to get your vaccinations you need no you don't pay for them. The only one I needed to do was the Tetanus one and I just called the nurse at the clinic in the town nearby and made an appointment to get it done. Its all free under Manitoba healthcare and I thought it was across Canada but who knows I may be wrong about that. The best bet is to go do them at a clinic nearby because otherwise when you do go for your medical you will pay per vaccination and why do that when you can get it done for free at your own medical clinic.

Hmmm I will ask how it works in Quebec, but I have pretty good knowledge on the healthcare system and some source from the inside told me I would need to pay to get the one I need...As they are not mandatory here...Still good to ask around to be sure though! You got those too? HEP A, influenza, pneumococcal, rotavirus, the last 3 seems pretty useless to me...As the website says that the doctor will assess depending on your medical history I am wondering if we need all of them for sure...

Influenza shots are only given in flu season from like october-march or something. The Pnuemococcal is only needed if you are over the age of 65 or something of that nature as far as I know. Hep same thing. The only one I was missing was the Tetanus one. All the others I got when I was a baby in the USA (no I was born in Canada but we lived in the USA til I was 6) and I do have my vaccination card from then. I had chicken pox when I was 8 years old so don't have to worry about that one.

That's what I figured! I did not pay for mine and figured they were part of our healthcare across the board in Canada. I am gonna miss my Canadian healthcare. BTW if you come back to Canada after 3 months of staying in Canada you get your healthcare back. Just a tidbit in case in the future you need something done.

Haha well from reading the other posts he might not need them! Hell if I can avoid more vaccines I really will! If I have to go through them to be with my love I will do what is needed, but I'd rather not.

Hep A is not needed after you are 12-23 months of age

Pneumococcal is from 2 - 59 months yes (for PCV)... every other age no... apart from 65 and older for PPV
