Looks like the USCIS check case status is down right now, maybe they are servicing the problem?

Can you imagine if they had only 1 IT guy that takes care of the CSC and just so conviently happened to take a vacation week when this issue started?

That kinda happened to me. I went on a two week vacation and three days into my trip, the website I manage went wonky. It was pretty much down for 4 days until I could get wifi service.

We can only hope that we are seeing just a hint of the iceberg. I'm not going to hold my breath though. I'm pretty much a smurf from doing that last week! ;)

I have a question concerning the documents that you need to bring to the embassy and later for the AOS as I am preparing the documents already:

Do we need to have the police record and birth certificate translated into English? I am from Germany and I was just wondering what I should do.

You want to have backups when going on vacation! :) Then again, ensuring nobody can do your job, is job security.

I have read different things. People on here say you do. From the USCIS website (

) .

All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which you are applying for a visa, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that:

  • The translation is accurate, and
  • The translator is competent to translate.

The question being is the country in which you are applying for the visa considered the US or where you are at. With this being said, I would prefer to be safe than sorry and thus do the translation.

I was told by our lawyer that if your documents are in the language of the country (In your case German Documents in Germany) then translations are not necessary because COs speak both English and the native language.

As people has already stated, you don't need translations for the Embassy interview, because they accept documents in the country language.

That being said, think ahead. You are not in a rush to get it for the interview, but sure you'll need your birth certificate translated to use it later in the US (i.e. AOS).

I am happy for her, they've been together for 11 years already so yea. they deserve it. She and her fiance told me that they are going to wait for my fiance to come here. The visa will last for 6 months anyways so I say there's still a lot of time..

sounds like you to are really close, are your partners living in the same state?

Hello all, been following this thread 2 weeks ago.

FIrst time posting this, here is my story.

January 23 filer here. Me and my sister filed at the same time, got our NoA1 at the same time (January 23). But there's a little difference between me and my sister, she filed her K1 with her fiance (same sex), while I got the regular one (opposite sex). She got approved on April 28th, and mine is still untouched. I am so glad and happy for her. Not so lucky with me, I think there's a specific officers who work for just same sex ? I don't know, a lot of things going on my mind thinking why my paper still not approved but she got hers.

What do you guys think?

Happy to know there is no bias towards same sex #sighofrelief

question on evidence of financial support for the interview other than the I-134 what else can be used from the foreign fiance's side or is is just the US citizen's paperwork required?

I am about to mail the original next week. I love my woman and want to see her again ASAP and I will not risk any delays on my part.

Hi the I-134 MUST be done right? And any other documents or bank info showing you can support yourself will just boost your case?

Just want ant to make sure I have everything right starting to put the package together from today.

All the support documentation has to be from the USC. Unfortunately they don't care about the foreign fiance's finances, which is annoying because I'm much better on savings than my fiance, so you can be sure I won't be a financial burden for the country

No problem. Also when you are calling the USCIS with questions try the Miletary line, It does not say so on the sit directly but i think veteranans are alo allowed to use this. My fiance is miletary so we use that line and there slighty shorter lines and more helpfull there.

Here you find the info and number for that https://www.uscis.gov/military/military-help-line

Thanks, I recently found out about the expedited application process, so I have submitted for it to be expedited.  That was on May 2nd.  I'm still waiting to hear back on whether the officer it was assigned to has approved that or not.

Thanks again for your help.
