I downloaded the USCIS app yesterday and I'm having way too much fun constantly checking it...I was way too excited when it told me cases similar to mine had updates, even though they were RFE's from October. I need a new hobby!

I'm road tripping next week to go visit my fiance though and we're having our engagement photos done, so at least once those are taken I will have something in a shorter time frame to wait for! Maybe that will make the wait easier? One can hope  Fingers crossed I get a happy border patrol agent. I've been lucky so far and they usually smile once I tell them why I'm going to the states. I've memorized the question/answer format by now. "Going to Minnesota, sir! To visit my FIANCE (!!yay!) and have our engagement photos done! We met on reddit! 9 days, 10 if the weather is bad! Thank you sir!". I wonder if there will be more questions now that he's my fiance and not just my boyfriend... NOW I'M NERVOUS!

Please update us on how it goes.  We haven't tried to have my fiancé visit the US yet, but the last time I went to Canada (at Christmas), the Canadian border guard asked a lot of questions.

Have you looked at the advice in the Canada sub-forum?  The US border guards will want proof that you are not planning to stay in the US.  Depending on the border guard, you may need to prove that you have ties to Canada: a rental agreement, mortgage payments, a letter from your employer stating when you plan to return, a letter from someone taking care of your children or pets, etc.  If my fiancé visits me, we are planning to have him bring several pieces of evidence that he plans to return home.

Never realize they are getting so tough on Canada border, when I fly to Europe or Asia only think they ask is : business or pleasure? that all .

Every single time I go visit him I bring a lot of evidence that I am returning home. I've never had any issues crossing when telling them I'm going to visit my boyfriend/fiance. Proof of ties have never been asked for yet but I especially won't forget it this time.

I think the biggest issue right now is a lot of Canadians are being turned away because they try to go and join the protests against Trump (which is illegal). I just want to get my engagement photos done and see my fiance!! Fingers crossed for a smooth drive over.

We are definitely very lucky and thankful we're only a 14 hour drive or 2.5 hour plane ride apart. But soon we will all get to be with our loves every day!

Hi mb - I can relate since my first trip to the Philippines I went the eastern route on Emirates and that took me almost 40 hours.  I'm returning to the Philippines in March traveling on EVA and my travel time to Manila is just over 20 hours not taking into consideration my flight from Ft. Lauderdale to JFK that adds an additional 2.5 hours.  I have another short connection to Iloilo from Manila.

I'll never travel on Emirates again to the Philippines because of the very long travel time and 8 hour layover in Dubai.  Where is your fiance from?

Why do you think changing jobs would impact anything? I am in the midst of changing jobs myself. I am in tech and make well over 6 figures. Why would it be an issue? Not trying to psych each other out. Just wondering.

Just not wanting to add more complexity to the process..I am also well over 6 figures and the position offered is really good for both of us...honestly I would turn it down if it causes issues with my application.
