yeah I was really busy today ... our case reached the embassy and changed to ready yesterday ... So I've sent the DS-160 yesterday late and today the K1/K2 application plus paid the fees. Today our case was touched again at the embassy so I hope they sent out the letter for packet 3 now.

I have all ready sitting here to send it and just waiting for the letter to arrive. Same day my packet will be on the way to the embassy ... if all goes, we could have the interview in about 4 weeks. Fingers crossed!

So happy for you, good luck and hopefully everything goes without a problem

thanks for all you do for us still waiting

Just got this Info from February filers. I thought it's interesting to shared, so I copied and paste it:

There's an interview with a guy that used to work at USCIS on VJ. If memory serves he said he'd have a check list of things to look for. So I don't think they waste time reading everything we send. They might read a lot if they feel the need but part from that.. :)

found it (it's a bit hidden), very interesting read: http://www.visajourney.com/content/adjudicator-q-and-a

We received notification today that an RFE was sent to us on 5/3.

Hopefully this means they are back processing at their normal rates for everyone else.

We are going through all scenarios of what caused our RFE.

One question:

Did everyone send in translated documents?

For example my fiancé's divorce decree is in Portuguese, but we didn't send a translated document with it..

What other documents did you translate?

  • 01/24/17 --- NOA1 date
  • 05/03/17 --- RFE notification received
  • 05/10/17 --- RFE response sent
  • 05/12/17 --- RFE response received
  • 05/24/17 --- NOA2
  • 06/22/17 --- NVC case number received
  • 06/26/17 --- Package received at RDJ embassy
  • 07/18/17 --- Interview (APPROVED!)
  • 08/05/17 --- Arrival to Minneapolis, MN
  • 09/30/17 --- Married!

That may have been it, you do have to send in translated documents. Any document that is in another language besides English should be translated.

Thank you for your share on the interview with the former USCIS employee. A bit outdated as the interview occurred back in 2007, none the less this is very informative and address's many of the questions that have been raised in this thread.

It's certainly worth taking the time to read and understand life as an Applications Adjudicator - Immigration's Officer. Things are a bit clearer now on how our applications are processed.

Very much appreciated!!!!!

I submitted documents in Portugues for my Fiance  accompanied by an English Certified Transaltion , such as Birth Certificate and Police Criminal Record.

We dont have any other document such as divorce or anything like that , and the Brazilian Passport is both in Portuguese/English so sent that as is.

Pictures of conversations throught our entire time together were sent some in English and others in Portuguese so that we did not translated.

If you sent translated documents, the reason may be for something else. We got an RFE as well and I was almost one hundred percent sure it's because my fiance and I met through OkCupid. I was wrong. We just got the mail today and we're being asked to send passport photos. Apparently, they lost the ones in the packet that we sent. Let us know what your RFE is for once you receive the letter in the mail!

Unrelated, but wow you have been waiting a long time. Glad to see your case has been looked at and hope you get an approval soon.

Working on my USCIS VBA data pull script again. Added some randomness to it and slowed it down. If this works, and I don't get banned again, will add some database code to it to skip non-K1 and approved which will speed up the scrape. It's very insightful watching all of the different types of responses that get sent out. I could be a backup for the others that are already doing this type of thing if I find the time. If not, it's fun writing the code anyway. :)
