Hello,

I am a US Citizen and I am sponsoring my mother for her Green Card. She came to US in March, 2007 and her I-94 expires in May, 2007.

I have changed my last name after becoming US Citizen.

I have applied for my US Passport in Feb, 2007. I have sent my "Name Change court order" document also along with the Passport application.

My passport processing status says my application has been received and is being processed.

For applying I-130, I don't have the Name Change court order document. Is it sufficient if I just send my Naturalization Certificate (or) do I need to send the Name Change Court Order also along with I-130? The instruction says to send the Name Change court order though.

Please help me!!! I need to file my mother's green card ASAP since she got only 2 months stamping in her I-94.

Can you get another copy of the name change order? Can you contact the passport people if you cannot and ask them to fax you a copy or return your? Typically (I think) passports are issued quickly, so you should get it back soon.

Do you have a photocopy of the name change order (good idea to do that if you are sending out the original).

Anyway, my advice, obtain an orignal order from the court (most courts will give you another order if you request it), or send in the application with a copy if you have it.

If neither of these options work and you are in a time crunch and can't wait for the original, then you better just file without and wait for an RFE.

Thanks for the reply!!

I do not have copies of the Name Change document. I made copies of my citizenship certificate, but did not strike to me to make copies of Name change document.

I called the passport information center and they keep disconnecting the line whichever option I try. I am not able to contact them at all. I applied for Name Change when I applied for my US Citizenship. So I am not sure if I can contact the court to ask for duplicate copy. I need to confirm that.

I think I will apply I-130 without it by explaining the situation in a letter. I hope they don't deny my application.

Thanks for the prompt response!!
