I'm sure you'll be fine, and I hope you really find yourself happy here.  Too often, homesickness can cause the first months or years to be not so much fun for anyone.  I wish I could tell you that you'll "never get shot" in the US.  It happens.  But you're more than twice as likely to die in a car wreck.  Stay out of one of the "big 4" cities, and your chances of dying in an automobile will likely shoot to 10 times higher than a gun death. You're at least 3 times as likely to die by suicide than by a gun.  LOL, I could go on, but you get the idea.

Enjoy your time with your guy, and settle in and get comfy.  Welcome to the US.  Hopefully you will find it enjoyable.  If not, I am sure Sweden would be a great place for you to take your husband back to and see how he likes it there.  Never visited there myself, but I think it's beautiful.

Thank you :) I hope so..  His family have made me feel very welcome! We might relocate again in the future, he loves it there, but right now it made more sense for us to be here. All places have their pros and cons :)

I don't actually think I'm gonna get shot if I put my foot out the door. I just have very high respect for guns, and I'm just very aware that they are around more here. I'm sure I'll feel more comfortable with that as time goes by.

I feel safer here knowing we have guns all over the place...

I can honestly say that having guns in the house, I don't really feel any more or less safe.  Even though I keep one locked and loaded for the worst case scenario, it has never happened.  Hopefully it never will.  But based on our society today, I'd be a fool to rely more on the good nature of my fellow humans than the functioning of a well-cared-for .40.

I've owned my own gun since I was 7, and see it as no more than a tool that is appropriate for certain jobs, nothing more.

A little bit off topic(well, closer to the original topic of the OP), any opinion on TSA Pre? I started enrolling I just have to complete it in person. Is it worth the $85 fee?

I'd do Nexus or Global entry over Pre-Chek.  Why?  Nexus gets you Canada entry, Global entry, as well as Pre-Check.  GE gets you Pre-Check.  Precheck gets you... that only.  But the price is what will sell you.  Check into all 3.  Precheck is about the worst bargain of the 3, and very limited.

Even if you argue that you'll never enter Canada, I'd look into the cost and advantages.  I don't have any right now, but when the time comes, I will probably get Nexus.

I am under 5000 rounds of 5.56 and getting edgy about it

Hmmm interesting, thanks. Nexus seems to be $50 for the application only, approved or not. Pre-Check is more, but only once approved. GE $100 per application. Also, pre-check enrollment center is 20 minutes from me, nexus and GE is almost 2 hours. No way of me getting there any time in the foreseeable future. I do like GE because back in Israel I used to also use a Kiosk with a card and a hand print and I really enjoyed it as it did save me alot of time. I think I will go the precheck route for now and do the others when I get to it. At least for now, it will be less hassle considering we fly about 3 times a year. I was just wondering if you think it is worth it even as a better than nothing kinda situation. It does seem to improve time and it's less hassle but not always that significant, I guess it depends on the airport. If I'm in NWR or ORD during different times of day/year it could be sweet. If it's just an airport like BTV it matters not at all.

Unless I were traveling thru Precheck airports at least 2-3 times per month, I don't see the need personally.  For me, it's hard to justify the cost.  But I am a Cheap Charlie, so don't take my word for it.  I'd rather stand in line and let them worry about me than waste my money.

Now if you are traveling thru a hub airport like ATL or DTW, it can make a HUGE difference in security times.

Well hence why I mentioned NWR and ORD which we go through alot. They can get quite bad too. And the fee is for 5 years...anyway I have 120 days now to decide if I wanna go through with it or not lol
