Wrong name on biometrics letter/having to use Infopass to fix...

Hey all,

 

I entered the United States on a K1 visa back in October. My husband and I married and sent off the AOS paperwork at the beginning of November.

 

I had my EAD, AP, and I-485 receipts arrive bearing my married name, GREAT...

 

Then the Biometrics letter arrived and had my maiden name on. I was under the impression I could take my marriage certificate with me to the Biometrics appointment, and that they would be able to adjust my name accordingly there - regrettably not the case. They refused to change my maiden name to my married name, and took my fingerprints and photo anyway. I was advised to make an Infopass appointment to see an immigration officer, which I did - has anyone done this? MY GOD basically ZERO appointments show up, until one comes up in an office a three hour drive from me. Not the one in my city. And for two weeks later.

 

Anyway, in the meantime I put in a request over the phone to change my name - this was over two weeks ago - then today I call to find out what is happening and apparently they have dealt with my request by sending me a letter to set up an Infopass appointment to fix THEIR mistake. Beyond frustrating. So they can't fix this over the phone, I need to go to the Infopass appointment.

 

Anyway I guess what I am trying to get to is - has anyone had this experience? What did you take to your appointment with an immigration officer to have them fix your name?

 

I am so frustrated that through their admin error I have to phone and phone and phone and drive to a whole other city because I KNOW my Resident Card will have the wrong name on it if I don't immediately fix this.
