Hi All,  my wife's NOA arrived today, so I'm entering the Receipt Notice Date (upper right hand corner of the I-797c NOA form) on the NOA column.  For any of you watching the December filers thread, you'll notice that they are recording the "priority date" field in this area.  Since in the end we're all using this as a gauge to see average processing times, I suggest we agree to use the NOA Notice Date on our thread, as it is more reflective of processing times.  I'm assuming the rest of you should expect letters in your mailboxes soon!!

I heard from a lawyer that people who never applied for citizenship for years and were on green cards for long time, many of them applying right now before the next administration comes into the power, as people are not sure what the policies will be...he said he is seeing a big spike in applications in his office.... if that is the case it seems like it will be slowerprocess for us as previous months applicantions taking already longer than usual... grrrrr.... anyways best of luck to all of us...

Should have applied earlier but decided to apply and sent 3 applications in one packet on 1/17. It looks like it will take a little longer to process C-Ship applications.

Should I also renew Green Cards those will be expiring on 6/1/17 ? Can anybody advise please ?

Janki...you cannot apply earlier than whatever your timeframe is...in most cases what i read earlier, they end up sending the application back... however if it is very close they wait for the date and starts process later....chances are you will get application back...but definitely you wont be getting check cashed before jan 29...

 

pluto17... you still have time to think about it... i am you i would see next couple of months how fast process is going as renewing greencard is not a long process ...

@Pluto17 ....  rules state that you have to have filed your N400 at least 6 months before your green card expires. If that's not the case, then you are required to renew your green card before applying.However, I have NEVER read about a case where this requirement was enforced. So whether or not your green card is expired on the day of your interview or a week after or a month before is irrelevant. The interviewer will either enforce the 6 month rule or he/she won't. It's almost certain that the rule won't be enforced and you'll be fine.You don't need a non-expired green card unless you are planning to travel after the interview.

I got a text message from uscis today they said they received my package and they gave me a receipt number , not sure how can i use it

I didnt know about 6 month renewal rule... in that case i am really not sure what will they say... you can apply for it if you want to be on safe side... chances are though that you will have interview before it expires and if it is valid I don't think immigration officer should have any problem...

also i was stupid to not fill this form whatever it is g-1145 or whatever so i wont be receiving text and i am waiting for first reply to get my case no... hopefully it comes soon...
