We are in a cycle that starts April and goes through Sep, which doubles approvals compared to Oct-Mar (~3,000/m -> ~6,000/m). This has been trend for past 3+ years. Interview to Oath= ~4-6 weeks, if no name change. Time IV scheduled notice -> oath date =~8-10 weeks (plus 1-2 weeks for passport)

My assumptions only.

One can travel up to oath date. From oath date to US passport=no travel possible.

Here is my question. Do they schedule interview for all the January applicant at the same time. For example, If Joe applied on 01/01/17 and Biden applied on 01/28/2017, will they receive their interview letter on the same date? Or will Biden have to wait until a spot opens up?

I am assuming these letters are generated on an automated software-based system and it is more likely that the batches are done based on how busy the processing center is. They probably run, for example, monthly batches for  rural areas, and maybe for busier, larger urban areas bi-weekly or even weekly batches....

I wanted to share my interview experience in the hopes that someone can learn a thing or two.

Interview Experience:

-appt was at noon and got there 20mins early

-went through security measures (just like when i had the fingerprint appt)

-handed my appt/interview letter to the receptionist and was told to wait for the IO to call my name

-IO called my name on time and we headed to his office

-he asked me to raise my right hand and had me swear to tell the truth

-he started the interview by asking my full name, address,dob, phone # 

-he had me read "when do we vote for president" and asked me to write in paper " we vote for president in november"  (english reading and writing test) 

-then civics test followed, he asked 6 questions and I answered correctly, i can't remember the questions anymore (if you study/memorize the 100 civics questions you'll be fine) 

-he browsed through the n400 application and asked the times I was out of the country, my job, and then asked about 7 of the yes-no questions

-he had me sign a paper and said i passed and to wait for the letter which will have the oath taking information

This is a short summary of my interview. My whole interview experience was very pleasant and perhaps I got lucky with a nice IO.He didn't ask for additional docs but I brought with me original docs( I sent copies only on my n400 packet) and additional docs like bank statements,mortgage,bills from january-april. It is better to come prepared.

No they don't. I saw one guy applied exactly like my case at same office (20 days  ahead inline for interview). However, I got the e-notification same day as his. I got the physical letter as well. I mentioned this in one of my earlier post, perhaps you missed it.

Point is: They issue letters in batch.

usually when it's based on marriage AND meeting immediately the 3-year rule and applied immediately after such, they have faster process 3-4 months. But if applied beyond 3 yrs even if its based on marriage, takes a while. I do believe it has something to do with bunch of records to be dig further for living so many yrs beyond 3-yrs which take it longer. Seems common sense, shorter period of yrs, no further records to dig the shorter the better but longer yrs I guess they gotta dig so many years of accrued records (whatever records). That's just based on what I've noticed on the statistics that I've been looking on this site.
