There may be a small chance for this to happen, but not realistic. This notification process is computerized and automated. The online status almost always gets updated before the letter is generated and printed.

Thank you for your insight. I generally agree with you. However, these "outliers" seem to be considerably large to take them lightly. I understand the underlying reasons that may delay certain applications. However, I don't understand the reasons for "expediting" the outliers on the "right side of the curve". What  is propelling them past the "normal applications" if there is inherently nothing wrong with "typical" applications. What is setting them apart?

Thanks for your answer, i wish i receive an interview letter in the mail anytime sooner or later  instead of waiting for status to change  :(, more than month and half since placed inline for interview

It has more to do with the agents processing the applications than the applications/applicants themselves.  Each get assigned a certain bulk, and some get done faster than others, some take on other agents' loads, or the next bulk available, many get reassigned to other application types, and vice versa.  All these moving parts are going to result in outliers on both ends of the curve.

I myself do a very similar job only in a different context. I agree that generally some aspects of it depends on the staff handling the case. But not to an extent where one case is completed in two months while the other one is dragged along for 12 months. There is more in it than we know or will ever know.

Wow! It is taking so long, according with my own experience 2 years ago, it took 45 days in line. I'm hoping the same for my relatives.

It's really great to hear some good news!  I hope that all of us can get our interview letter soon   I hope they are working on my process, I cannot find any information when I entered my case # on the system.  I signed up for updates, but I have not received any updates.  I just received the letter for biometrics and after that I do not even know if I am "in line for interview".  I called the customer service # and they said that sometimes they make a mistake and do not enter a case number in the system, but that they "should" be working on it.  

I really hope they are!!!!  And again congrats to all that are getting the interviews scheduled:)!!!! And I know this second part of April will be of great news for all.  Enjoy your waiting...
