You don't need to opt to fill out one-page form for email or text notifications for case status updates. To receive email or text updates in your case, just go to USCIS website, click on "Tools" tab then from there follow a certain instruction to create an account. Correction to my previous reply in RED TEXTS, I made some error.  On the bottom of your case there are written tabs.  Click on those tabs "EMAIL ALERTS ON" and "MOBILE ALERTS ON" if you want email or text message notifications.

Feb/Mar sometime: Received greencard in the mail. I can't remember the exact date, I have blocked it out as it was so traumatizing. It was just my luck that the USPS had some kind of substitute postal worker on duty the day my greencard arrived. For some reason that's never been explained to me, he didn't deliver my greencard and instead it got placed back into the postal system. We pushed the postmaster to find it and it was eventually found and hand-delivered by the postmaster to our house about two weeks later. The longest two weeks of my life!

Removal of Conditions

Nov 24, 2014: Sent I-751 to California Service Center by USPS Priority Mail

Nov 25, 2014: USPS Delivery Confirmation shows application arrived at California Service Center

Dec 5, 2014: Paper NOA1 for I-751 received by mail

Jan 5, 2015: Biometrics completed at Pico/Fairfax ASC in Los Angeles, CA

May 4, 2015: Date of decision on removal of conditions (approved)

May 7, 2015: Paper NOA2 for I-751 received by mail indicating removal of conditions had been approved

Naturalization

Jan 18, 2017: Sent N-400 to Phoenix, AZ Lockbox by USPS Express Mail

Jan 19, 2017: USPS Delivery Confirmation shows application arrived at Phoenix, AZ

Jan 24, 2017: Paper NOA1 notice date

Feb 13, 2017: Walk-in biometrics completed at ASC in Los Angeles, CA

Actually - make sure you select the case by clicking the box on the left of your case number and then click those buttons Email Alerts On and Mobile Alerts on- I had spent the three weeks wondering why I didn't get emails to finally figure it out - At the end of the exercise, it should say Y and Y for Email and Text right underneath.

It's true, I don't know they said Washington DC, while we re in the confine of Virginia. They should have an office for DC, and one just for VA... Guess, they just wanna save bucks, and let you suffer the waiting torture

Our latest online update says that we were "in line" as of February 28.  Still have not received a letter.  Should we be worried?

Look at the table, only a few people have their interviews scheduled, the majority of January filers are still waiting for their interviews to be scheduled. Look at December, November filers, most of them are also still waiting. I don't think you should be worried at all. October filers are mostly done with interview scheduling...
So, I would assume January filers will be where October filers are in 2-3 months.

So i have been studying civics & history questions also i forgot to mention earlier that my interview office was changed to Louisville,KY but i had my biometric taken at Cincinnati Ohio.Someone please Update my field office information for interview which is going to at Louisville,KY even though i lives right next to Cincinnati Ohio . You may already know this, but it may be worth repeating......  You will not get a letter (paper) notification of being put in-line.  The only way you will know that you are in-line is if you are set up for email or SMS (text) notifications, OR you visit the USCIS Case Status page and see the latest status there.  That said, you WILL see an online (or via email/SMS if you're set up for that) notification when they have scheduled your interview, and you will also get a paper notification that shows the date, time, and location of your interview.  Based on the average time to move from being placed in-line to having an interview scheduled, most people are in-line for a number of months.

 

So, as others have said -- don't worry.  Keep checking your status online, and eventually you'll have some advanced notice before your interview paper notification arrives.  It is an exercise in patience at this point for us all!
