Just got back from my biometrics appointment in Gardena, CA. In and out in less than 10 minutes, if you have this location for yours, go do an early walk in during the afternoon. Every time I've gone there for an afternoon appointment, it's been empty and you get seen straight away. The officer at check in said they're most busy in the mornings

05/30/2008 - K1 Visa Interview, approved but suspended pending on new police report, sent new report in 2 days later along with my passport to the embassy

06/10/2008 - Passport delivered to the house with nice visa page stuck inside yipeee!

08/02/2008 - tied the knot

08/11/2008 - applied for AOS and EAD

09/11/2008 - NOA arrived for both

09/30/2008 - Biometrics

12/20/2008 - Interview Letter arrived

No letter for "in-inline". Only online status shows "in-line".

The next correspondence is "Interview Scheduled" invitation letter (will also show online).

It notifies user the moment there is a status change at USCIS site, and 2-3 days before USCIS sends alerts via SMS & email.

Does anyone have any idea regarding how much delay is there at Washington DC (Fairfax) regional center to get the status to Inline after fingerprinting? I believe every center is different and case timelines are dependent upon that?

Processing times at Washington dc are quicker than many other field offices but after you do fingerprints your case is put on hold till fbi clears background check...two individuals at same field offices with same time fingerprints appointments can see a huge difference in when they are placed in line as it takes different times for fbi to clear background checks on different individuals....many factors including if your name matches with someone, your country of origin, countries you have visited, no. of states you have lived,if any criminal record and so on ... affects your background check I believe....also uscis doesn't put you inline if you have more than 1 month remaining of your 3rd or 5th gc anniversary even if you clear background check.... good luck hopefully your status changes soon

Processing times at Washington dc are quicker than many other field offices but after you do fingerprints your case is put on hold till fbi clears background check...two individuals at same field offices with same time fingerprints appointments can see a huge difference in when they are placed in line as it takes different times for fbi to clear background checks on different individuals....many factors including if your name matches with someone, your country of origin, countries you have visited, no. of states you have lived,if any criminal record and so on ... affects your background check I believe....also uscis doesn't put you inline if you have more than 1 month remaining of your 3rd or 5th gc anniversary even if you clear background check.... good luck hopefully your status changes soon

Here is the link from uscis about background check which must be completed before scheduling an interview ...getting inline means the process of scheduling an interview has started... from there on it depends how busy your field office is... because they need to set up appointments for an interview
