No worries - I get it all the time, and it has never really bothered me.  Now if you were to try to guess at my full name based on that nickname, you would probably guess wrong - and some people insist on calling me by that wrong wone; that does get a bit annoying at times...  :)

Thanks!  Let's see how close to a full year this is going to be - sitting at 306 days as of today, and with the long weekend, who knows when I'll even get the letter, and then when the interview is going to happen...  A lot of last minute type of rush things going on in the next few weeks where I am sitting in the old army type mentality of 'hurry up and wait' - ie. I'm waiting on others to get me information that they need back asap, yet they are taking their sweet time in getting it to me...

C'est la vie, as they say...

LOL... Since I know you are from Finland and based on your mick, I would assume your full name could be Kristoffer... Let's see how close I am :)

In another forum someone mention that scheduling an interview means only that we paid correct fee. And Oath may take another months. I hope that person was wrong and this would not be our scenario... Keep fingers crossed for you ;)

Nah - not that...  That one sounds more German...

In any case:

I have an interview date of Dec 27 - in Buffalo.  In other words, who knows what old man winter will throw at us still.  Going to be fun considering that we have friends coming in from out of town for the 26th as well...

Moving along, slowly...

Has anyone with an expired Resident card had any issues at all?

Also what if it's expired can you file for an extension while your application is in line?

  • 2 weeks later...

So, now at least I know for sure that I'm stuck in background check. My Congressman forwarded to me  general response from the USCIS.  Now it can take indefinite time...

Thank you for your inquiry regarding this constituent’s immigration matter.  U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services (USCIS) records confirm that your constituent’s case is pending background check
clearance.  USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely manner while also
ensuring public safety and national security.  A small percentage of applications and petitions have
unresolved background check issues that temporarily delay adjudication.  Although USCIS makes every
effort to resolve such cases promptly, USCIS is unable to speculate when the background check will be
completed.

If a background check reveals an issue that may impact an applicant’s eligibility for the requested
immigration benefit, further inquiry is needed.  The inquiry may include an additional interview and/or
contact with another agency for updates or more comprehensive information.  Upon gathering and
assessing all available information, USCIS will adjudicate the application as quickly as possible.

USCIS realizes that your constituent may be frustrated by the progress of his or her case.  However, the
agency must balance individual inconvenience against broader issues of public safety and national
security.

We hope the information provided is helpful.  If we may be of assistance in the future, please let us
know.

I think this is what the people called "further security check".  At least you know now their clear reason for holding the case for too long. Patience will be the key role this time.

Right! Now I have lots of patience since it took 3 (three) weeks to USCIS to send this copy/past response to the Congressman office...

I can only speculate.  More than likely the FBI is done on the checking  (9-10 mos.  the longest average wait from what I read)  however,  it's the NBC office who is going the further name check because when you called they said "it's on hold" otherwise they would just say "FBI check not yet complete".  Anyway, We'll hope for the best outcome.

I hope you are right that FBI checks averagely takes 9 to 10 months I would not even mind if it is 12 month at this point... And since I am kind of anxious I google lots of relative  stuff and yesterday I read the story of a guy who's background check took 5 year...  Five long years...

But I still hope it's and exception but not the common practice...

Have you heard anything valuable about your case?

Unfortunately Buffalo does not do oaths in the office except under exceptional circumstances...

Right now my biggest concern is the weather, which on an extended forecast calls for significant lake effect snow...  Buffalo in December - who would have thought there would be snow...  :)

Right, seems this very unusual for northern states 😁

You've been so long in "stand by" mode, hopefully no delays ahead and all be nice and smooth for you! Happy Holidays! 😉
