During oath, at any time do they call u by name? I know it is weird but I want to take a friend with me but don't want to tell him my first name🙈

In Casper, WY a local news outlet reported about the naturalization ceremony and listed all the new citizens by full names.

Relax, this is not a race.

You seem worried about calling names, of course they have to call names pretty sure.  Is there something wrong in your name? Seems like you're ashamed of your name..

If you watch some recent citizenship ceremonies posted in youtube, they call the names when they distributed the certificate upfront in stage.

I passed my interview (San Francisco) today. I waited 10 minutes, and the interview took around 10 minutes too.

The IO did the Civics exam first, which I appreciated - to get the nerves out of the way.

Reading: Why do people come to America

Writing: People come to be free (or something)

Q&A (what I remember)

1. Who's the father of our country

2. Name a war fought in the 1900s

3. Who is the chief justice

4. How many House of Representatives are there

5. How many years is a Senator elected for?

Then we went over my application. When asked for my current address, my mind went blank and couldn't remember my residence number. LOL

They may, but I don't think anyone is going to care, because everyone there will be quite a bunch of foreign, strange-sounding names read out-loud on that day.

They definitely don't do this everywhere, and it really doesn't matter why someone doesn't want their first name divulged; that's their business.

The USCIS reps at my ceremony seemed to be going out of their way to not divulge any personal information. Our line into the room had a gap and a "wait here" sign while they inspected a person's interview notice questionnaire several feet ahead. They also directed people to seating in such an order so that certificates could be handed out as people stood up to leave, with the USCIS reps only whispering each person's first name to confirm. Seemed respectful, but it will definitely depend on the location., @weakheart

HI All,

finally some movement on my account. My case status online showed an interview scheduled on 8-11-17. No letter yet though. Wonder why it's taking so long?

They didn't. The interview letter has a list of all the original documents that you need to bring, and it did not include a 2x2 picture. Strangely enough, the IO didn't ask to see the original copies I brought with me either.

Good luck!!
