Paint me red as well!

Had my interview today. Oath ended up same day.

Appointment time: 9:30 am

Got there at: 9:00

Interviewed: 11:00

Interview was quick. Less than 5mins. Quick 6 questions on history, read and write test, and walk through the application. Then I was told to wait.

After about 40 mins, I was given the approval letter and oath letter.

I waited almost 5 hours to be called to verify certificate. Upon enquiry after all that wait, they found out that the A number on oath letter had a typo so NY file fell through the crack. At last they found it and got the oath dome at 4:30 pm.

It was long day. But I am all set.

Good luck to all!

Congratulations!!!! Thats the good thing about Newark field office. Even if they take long time to call for an interview, the same day oath is the silver lining in the cloud.

Hello,

I have been a long time silent lurker, and spent so some many anxious months and tense years to this date. I will share a detailed update tomorrow, but just had my interview at Newark NJ and was recommended for approval on Form N-652 and received Form N-445 for same day oath. It has been 2 hours since I completed the interview and received the above forms, and waiting patiently in the 15th floor room at Newark NJ for my name to be called to hand over the green card etc. While my attorney did tell me that it'll be a long wait in this room, to say I am relieved is an understatement and ready to wait more hours for the oath ceremony. I thank each and everyone in this forum for your posts. There may be more like me who don't login but check these forums almost daily. In my case, I just couldn't garner the courage or confidence to share my story. I do promise now to log in frequently and help all fellow members in their dreams of becoming a US citizen.

Thank You and Good Luck

Passports are processed pretty fast here.  My husband had his passport done in a week and it was not expedited.  My kids - 2 weeks and few days.  I plan to apply for the passport in September and will get it in October just in time for my travel to Canada this December to visit my newest niece or nephew (it's due in the first week of December).  As for kids - taking a bit longer because we applied right before summer starts so there is a peak.  While my husband - in the beginning of May.

With kids, you have to go to the passport processing center because both parents are required to be present (or get a notarized letter from another parent if that parent is not able to show up).  So I woke up really early in the AM and stood in the rain in Merrifield, VA, waiting for the PO to open. I got there at 7 am, and there already are like 20 people waiting.  By 8:30, there are like hundreds waiting and some of them had to be turned away.  What I didn't understand the officer, every application, you have to take a ticket.  I only had one ticket and I told the officer that I didn't understand what she was saying but she just moved on.  But when I looked behind and saw the lady had 4 tickets, then I knew it was a ticket for an application and I asked the officer, but she didn't understand, but fortunately, as soon as I got in the building, I talked with the officer and she gave me another ticket.  However, I got both kids done within 20 minutes (they expected to spend 20 minutes on each application) but since I prepared so well, so things are in order.

As for myself - it's nice to just mail it in :) . One more renewal for my kids - then my oldest will be done (I try to push it until he's 16 so his next passport will be 10 years instead of 5.  As for my daughter - one more.

I just had my home country renewed last year (it was expensive in Canada! - I refused to mail it in because it costs 100 more than if you do the walk in, so I had my vacation in Canada and my passport expired at the end of my vacation so perfect timing - walked in at the beginning of the vacation, then picked it up at the end of the vacation for 100 less.

It has always amazed me to see how fast I have gotten my Finnish passport renewed...  I have to make a trip to the embassy, but the last time I went there on a Thursday afternoon, and had my new passport in my hand, delivered by FedEx, on the following Tuesday.  Bear in mind that the passport was printed in Finland, delivered in the diplomatic pouch to New York, and then sent to me by FedEx...

In Finland, it is possible to get a new passport or a renewal in a day without having to prove anything by way of an urgent need - it will certainly cost you more, but as long as you apply before 11 AM, you can pick it up by 4 PM.  I believe that the normal processing time is about 4 days or so...

You have to go to the office for your passport if its tour first time getting a US passport. Also, there is post office in Woodbridge that accepts only walk in so you don't have to travel to Merrifield.

I know -  At that time, there was no availability - that's why we went to Merrifield.  For my passport, I can take the day off and stop by Woodbridge Post Office.

In 10 days will be 7 month since last update on my case, which was about FP procedure...

Almost 2 weeks ago I had  the InfoPass appointment in Norfolk, VA, and did not even want to mention since it was way to useless... Drove 5 hours each way just to hear exactly the same that I can read myself on the USCIS website... and she was not either nice or polite, even though I greeted her nicely with a smile...

I gave up now and don't really care how long would it take, all my plans are messed up anyways...

I hope you will hear something soon about your case!
