Patience isn't my strong point LOL but God is teaching me to be more patient. My husband and I talk everyday without fail. We video chat, and talk on the phone as well as texts. This whole experience has made us closer and stronger and no amount of time with break our bond. I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate the support.

100% understand on the patience :-) too funny. I really can't wait till the day you post that he has it. been watching your posts for a while now. Excited that its getting closer to time for you.

TrustG,

My husband just got approved from Uscis and we are now off to NVC

Can you advise me how long it took for Your Spouse to get their Police Report from the police headquarters there in Ghana? And do u recall the cost to get it?

My husband has not been married before and has no court records so I’m hoping all I need from him for NVC is his police report, copy of his birth certificate, inside copy of his passport and I think that is all...

Any help you provide is greatly appreciated

Yes that's about all. There should be a checklist that the NVC has that you can use to verify you have everything in your package before sending to them. Also a note, you don't have to have him pay to send it. I know a lot think that, but if he has access to go to an Internet Cafe, they have lots in Accra, they should be able to scan it for him and send it to you via email. That's what we did, and print in color. Saves a whole lot of money.

WOW!!  I cannot believe u were asked no questions.  Congratulations to all.  My hubby is on his way to the states as I write this.  He will be here w me tomorrow nite.

Our status never changed to ready for pickup but we got an emailed saying it was ready (was ready in 2 days).   As far as the best route goes, idk if there is one better over the other.

we cant believe it either ..lol

Oh this is just awesome awesome awesome to hear. So happy for you. The stress of it all just melts away doesn't it. You feel it deep in your bones and its a wonderful feeling. My status never changed to ready either, so after about 4-5 days head over to the DHL, they will most likely have it for you. Also not sure where you are, but my husband took a direct flight from Accra to Washington DC on South African Airways. It was much cheaper than any other airline. So if you are close to there, that may be a great route to take. I didnt want him to have to have so many layover and flight changes especially since most of them are in foreign countries, so it worked out wonderfully and the flight was a total of 14 hours, from accra to DC 10 hours and from DC to where i am was 1.5 hours and he had a 1 hour 45 minute layover in DC. I found the flight on Priceline. South African Airways just started this direct flight to DC so it was great timing. He also noted that it was a very comfortable flight with good foods

it was such a wonderful feeling i was with him and he couldn't believe its all over soo soon ..told me when the CO called him to window 9 said so Mr...your visa is approved he couldn't believe it.. he was shocked for a couple of seconds and the CO kept telling him pls listen to the him and gave him the instructions for follower to pick his passport up ... he started crying from the inside all the to meet me outside ..lol tears of joy its been a very long journey

U can change it or u can wait , but it will not caused any issues, I filed my husband's petition before I change my last name on my document's. Also do u and ur husband had a bank account, land documents etc any documents that has both name's that will also help. Also ask family members and coworkers to write an affidavit about  what they know concerning your marriage.  If u have a retirement account with your job and your husband is the beneficial ask them for a confirmation page of your benefit.

I added my husband on to my credit card acct and added him on to the family plan phone acct I have and then took him a phone that is on my plan. I wasn’t able to open a bank acct here in USA without him here but guess I can open a joint one there in Ghana with him next time I go there.

And yes I will have affidavits from my coworkers and family of what they know of my marriage. I have my husband as my beneficiary on my life insurance also.

Shomefune96,  thank you for the bit of advice of the scanning and emailing of that document. I told my husband I thought we could do it that way, so that’s what we will do.

Thank you to everyone who has such helpful info as I appreciate it immensely..
