Reince Priebus, the White House chief of staff, said on CBS's “Face the Nation” that President Trump's executive order could potentially be expanded to include more than seven countries.

"You can point to other countries that have similar problems like Pakistan and others -- perhaps we need to take it further,” he said. “But for now, immediate steps, pulling the Band-Aid off, is to do further vetting for people traveling in and out of those countries.”

I am not sure if there is such a timeline for each country for green card. I ask this because I have seen people sharing their insight of when their green card was received and when they applied for jobs and such. I am hoping someone here can give me an insight but in the mean time I will do a research on this site.

as for social, I will say what most have said before me, apply in person do not wait 10 days to receive your card automatically based on the option you selected when applying for immigrant application.

As for the airport experience, we had a bit of longer wait than usual only because of the immigration officer who did our process at the airport was new. It was all due to the custom form that I filled out for my hubby. Every time I travel through IAD, i always fill out custom form and I was never stopped for customs even when I declared my jewelry in the past, however this time they stopped me and my hubby only because the immigration officer was new and wrote us down for my personal jewelry, which he is not suppose to i believe if it is personal. Other than that the process was smooth. We had extra hour because of the customs and all of our stuff went through scanner after I gave an explanation to 2 custom officers. anyways my advice, do not declare anything if you want to avoid customs, especially food. do not bring anything that you know will cause you problem. Also be clear and concise when dealing with them and do not panic.

on a side note: IAD usually never has custom but this time they did. I think it is becoming a thing now or something.

read above.

So to clear things up: if you are a Muslim and especially from those 7 countries then yes you may be held at the airport(s) across the country due to the travel ban. It is discriminatory against muslims more than anyone else. Although they made announcement that green card holders are not affected anymore except for vetting, still you cannot say anything.

HI, we are also in MD. My wife she arrived on Nov 1st.

Social Security- Even though we selected option while applying we went in person after about 5 days. I think the officer said it will take at least 3 days after their arrival before they have their information in their system. I would suggest to go apply in person after a week. Once we applied her ssn card arrived in mail within a week.

Job - If your husband have a job lined up and need to start working than he can. He doesn't have to wait for green card. Visa stamp on his passport should be sufficient.

Green Card- We received her card after 5 weeks. We were also getting error until the card was in production. It is normally to have it like this way. Wait for 3 weeks and than try and maybe by than his card will be in production. There is no status update until card goes in production.

If you don't mind what kind of a job is your husband looking for? My wife is trying to get an entry level job/internship in Business field but we are not getting any thing.

Hope this will help you.

My case was complete on January 11 - I will call later today to see if an interview has been scheduled.  A NVC rep told me last week that I should call for the interview date since the email communication takes about a week after they actually schedule you for an interview.

The case complete email takes about 5-6 business days after your case was actually complete.

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents

I just called NVC the guy told me they're scheduling and sending the interview letter right now. However, it depends on the embassy and it could take up to 60 days :wacko:

I've seen posts on VJ where it's taking almost 5 months to get an interview in some countries - the majority is 1-2 months.   You can go here and filter by country to see how long it's taking to get an interview in a particular country:
