I just read the draft of the executive order that trump is signing regarding immigration..looks like somalia (the country my husb is from), is on that list and the ban is for 30 days (for any and all types of immigration and visa issuance) until those countries provide documentation of "sufficient vetting" whatever that means. if they don't meet the requirements, then there's another 60 day deadline, and anything after that it will be a permanent ban.

for those of you who don't believe this is happening, it is. take a look yourself: https://apps.washingtonpost.com/g/documents/world/read-the-draft-of-the-executive-order-on-immigration-and-refugees/2289/

i don't even know if there's a point in checking for an approval from the NVC now, since a visa won't be issued to him anyway. i guess this might be the end of the road for us.

I'm very sorry to hear this :(  keep praying and just don't give up...anything is possible

Im so sorry to hear that ..but what are the other countries on that black list ?

The article states " The countries — designated under several provisions of law that have already singled them out for terrorism links — include Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Somalia. While all are Muslim-majority countries, the list — and the ban — do not include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and numerous other Muslim-majority countries"

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents

yes and no, the order doesn't specify what the requirements are so it's hard to say. most of the countries on that list are being bombed by the US and are also in the middle of civil unrest, so it's hard to say what's going to happen.

I'm not sure that executive order has been enacted as yet.  We may know the details later this week.

I can understand your concerns but I wouldn't jump into conclusions. I yet have to have a better understanding of what this executive order will mean but it seems it's targeting non-immigrant visas and refugees. I don't think this is your situation. I also think they're just trying to make the process harder. However, don't be discouraged. Have faith that your process will continue. Good luck!

well, after 12 weeks of waiting we got informed by the rep that we are getting a checklist. they lost our document. requested to speak sup since last week with no success. the document they're asking was in the packet...no matter how much patience you have, the people at the nvc will make you lose it.

Keep asking to speak to a supervisor and make sure you ask the supervisor if you can get a case complete and bring the document to the interview.

That's my biggest fear because its already happened to me once.......  Ends up adding 2-3 months to the length of this purgatory.

I keep hoping that I get out of this section of this process without any further delays and into working with the people at the US embassy in Japan ASAP

Good luck to all.   I'll be back on the phones tomorrow.  Going to call every 2-3 days from now on..... just hard to find the 60 minutes in the day to just do nothing but wait on hold

Franky, I think it's not necessary for employment based like we are. If you are employment based you do not have to pay AOS and is our friends here previously said it will not change from EXEMPT to N/A as soon as case is complete. Unfortunately. We just should keep calling.

But ok, I still check twice a day :) Don't know why....

Guys, I am not sure you saw my other comment or not. Mine remained EXEMPT till two weeks after completion and this Monday it turned to N/A. I am not sure why.

But you are right, it remained as EXEMPT when my case was completed and I only found out over the phone that my case has completed.
