Congrats! My case was completed on jan 17th. Have you received an email from NVC saying that the case is completed? Just wondering how much time the email takes once the case is completed. Thanks.

Hi, I received my email on the 23rd .. MY CC was completed on Jan 13th. It took 10 days due to January 16th holiday.

Only the federal government can take 10 days to send an email... lol

Just talked to the NVC (second time today) and spoke with a nice lady! (I like the evening crew more than the day crew tbh) and she told me that my case was in the review department and I should hear back this week by Friday. Fingers crossed!! Tbh I don't even mind waiting for an interview date, just as long as we're pass this nightmare NVC and there is no possibility of a checklist.

2. Write down your case number. It is a series of three letters and 10 numbers with no dashes or spaces. An example NVC case number looks like this: MNL2013524001.

3. Split the figures as follows: LLL NNNN NNN NNN, where "L" is a letter and "N" is a number.

4. Read the three letters from the left. This is the code for the U.S. consulate that has jurisdiction over the visa applicant's location. It is where you will get a visa interview. For example, "MNL" refers to the U.S. consulate in Manila.

5. Read the first four numbers following the letters. In this example it is "2013." This is the year that the NVC received the visa application.

6. Read the next three numbers. This is the day of the year in which the case was received. It is the figure minus 500. For example, "524" means NVC got the package on the 24th day of the year, January 24.

7. Read the last three numbers in the case number. It tells you the order it was assigned to the consulate that day. In this example, it is "001" so it was the first case created for the Manila consulate on Jan. 24, 2013.

Hope this can guide you well,

Best of luck

The case number is assigned when the NVC receives the case and is long before any consulate is involved.

The last 3 numbers simply represent how many cases the NVC received that day and has nothing to with how many people are ahead of you for an interview.

There is absolutely no reason to assume that all of the cases from that day are going to be complete at the same time.

For example my case number is 012 but those 11 people in front of me may have all gotten RFEs and are still being processed while my case is already complete and is just waiting for the interview date.

Did my weekly call to nvc, 9 weeks today!

What do you guys say when you call?  I don't get angry with them but should i be?  I am like ok will call next week then.  Maybe that is why our file isn't being pulled to be looked at...

I don't know....

What you said rarely matters. Don't be mean since the people on the phone have no control over the situation.

I just ask for an update. They tell me. I try to ask clarifying questions since they are always vague (Some say "review department", others say "no updates" etc...). I always ask "Is there any idea of when it would be complete?" and then I say "thank you I'll call again later".

The number of times a person on the phone pulls a case and does anything is very small, and typically only in certain situations so if you are just waiting without any unique circumstances no reason to be pushy I'd say. Also 9 weeks isn't "super long" yet unfortunately.

What is your scan date and were you put on supervisor review?  You can ask for a status update, and then ask to speak to a supervisor.  If none are available, request for a supervisor call back.  Good luck!  It looks like the average time for case complete is 10 weeks from scan date.

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents

Our scan date is 11-22-2016 and we were put on supervisor review 3 weeks ago....

9 weeks is actually a long time because back in 2005 when we did the K1 fiance visa it took just a few weeks at NVC and USCIS took the longest.... this time round it only took 36 days for USCIS approval from NOA1

Oh well....

Well, yes, that is definitely a long time, but I think they meant in regards to how long a lot of us are waiting. So, while nine weeks is very long, some of us are waiting up to twelve and beyond. I hope yours gets approved soon!! And mine, too, for that matter :) 10 weeks and 1 day for me.

Wow NVC is being super slow, 10 weeks today, two weeks supervisor review. I called yesterday and the lady who pick up the phone told me your case is at the right place. I was like hmmmm, it's been at the right place weeks now and counting, my files has been with NVC ten weeks now. She said" I know".
