Ok, here is a question......Have there been cases which were closed by NVC, yet, still displayed "Paid" under AOS Fee?

I saw someone on this thread who had a case complete and displayed 3 N/As and when they were scheduled for an interview, it changed back to 2 N/As and AOS Fee displayed as "PAID"

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents

Interesting.........as you might know, I received a checklist last Friday for my wife's Birth Certificate and her Divorce decree.  Both documents had already been sent to NVC by my attorney's office.  When I contacted my attorney on Friday, I received this reply:

"  I just got off the phone with the National Visa Center to challenge the checklist that they provided since your wife’s birth certificate and household registration are valid and obtained from the correct authorities. I am currently waiting for a call back from a supervisor. "

Today, I received this reply from my attorney:

" According to the supervisory officer we were instructed not to submit the documents that were already submitted and that your petition is in queue for an interview. "

My AOS Fee still shows "Paid"

Weird, huh? At face value, it appears that my case was closed ?  Agree?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Agreed, but to be on the safe side, I suggest you call NVC and confirm.  It may take a while to get hold of someone, but they should be able to tell you the status right away.

Thanks.......By the way, I have found at least one post from late last year which said " Never had the N/A(s) - just paid. Our case is closed and at the consulate "

So I called again today because I still haven't seen the famous 3rd N/A. The rep told me that my case was sent to the supervisor on 12/29/2016 and then sent to the document review department yesterday. So I am taking that as a good sign and hope to have my case complete by the end of the week. This is such a discouraging and never ending process!! How are you guys coping with this, please let me know, all I want to do to break in tears.

Well, I think we're all feeling the same as you; absolutely miserable, but we love our spouses very much and there is the always the hope that this horrid process is almost over.

P.S. I break into tears at least twice a week, so at least from my standpoint that is perfectly normal ;)

Honestly i probably cry everyday. My case was sent to a supervisor 12/22 and I'm still waiting. It's hard to have your life in limbo because they're processing the cases at a slow pace.

I've been on hold with NVC for 32 minutes and before that I was calling for 30 minutes in which I received the lovely message that they were busy and would now hang up on me.

I wonder how much the Federal government is paying for this incredibly shitty service.   I'm not the least impressed with the way they handle cases.  Its definitely not first-in-first-out or any other logical method of organizing workload.   Guess they cherry-pick the cases they want.

Grrrrrrrrrr..   still on hold.

$145 million.

"FCi Federal announced that the company has been awarded a prime contract with the Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs to provide Visa Support Services (VSS). The work will be performed at two Consular Support Centers: the National Visa Center in Portsmouth, NH and the Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg, KY. Approximately 830 contract staff are employed at the two centers. The contract has a five-year performance period (including options) with a ceiling of more than $145 million if all options are exercised."

You gotta be kidding....... I doubt the government saved $145 million per year by centralizing this from the consulates. ....   With the service they are providing I hope they are fired at the end of these 5 years.  The disruption that they are causing to families is just disgusting.

And its really not on the radar of the average american.   I had another co-worker ask me.... doesn't your wife automatically get a green card for marrying you.... ... wouldn't that be nice.  I gently explained the process.....  guess its my bad for falling in love with someone outside of the United States.......

OK - just got off the phone with NVC... WOW... now my case is in Supervisor review........ :-(
