Congratulations to everyone that has been approved and got CC.

What # do you all call when you call NVC? I called 603-334-0700, and was on hold for 58 mins until my battery died! Is this the hold time-frame or am i dialing the wrong #?

That's definitely the right number, but I have never had to wait that long. My longest wait is 35 minutes max. What time of day are you calling?

That's lunch time on the west coast so that can be peak time.  I called around that time too and waiting more than an hour and then started calling at 7 AM or late in the evenings.  In the evenings, it can take about 30 mins but I just leave the phone on speaker while waiting :)

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents

I have 3 scan dates:

June 2016

September 1st 2016 and

November 28th 2016

I started the process with USCIS in October 2015 so I'm into my 15th month

TIP: If they ask you for a Japanese Police Certificate on your checklist, call the NVC and ask to have it removed. The latest regulations don't require it but the regulations have changed 3 times in a few short months.  that was one cause of my multi-month delay and creates a lot of confusion at the NVC itself

Thank you for this! What I actually did was request two original sealed Japanese Police Certificates. The prefectural police did ask me why I asked for two copies and I said one was for the NVC and the other for the embassy during my final interview. They made a few internal calls and then agreed to give me two copies. I sent one in my NVC packet and the other one is for the embassy interview. I did this to avoid getting any RFEs and so I don't have to explain to the NVC. Hope they don't hassle me about like they did with you! (>.<)

Wow  - you're lucky in more ways than one.  Not only do you have a very short timeline but the police when my wife (who is Japanese) asked for 2 copies, they threatened her, and said she could only have one.  The nice person (dripping sarcasm) at the police station also told her that if she does send it out of the country and it gets lost - the United States Government will have to write a letter of apology to the Police Department before they would ever consider providing another one.  This was the main police HQ in Tokyo where they must have lots of experience with this process.  Needless to say I was shocked at the response she got.

Seriously?! That is shocking! I requested mine at the neighboring Chiba Prefectural Police and they accommodated me really well. They just asked me to sign this certain file which states that both documents I requested will go to the NVC and the other to the US embassy. Maybe the Tokyo Police has had to deal with too much #@$% in the past that they had to tighten their rules, making things harder even for the rule-abiding ones like your wife. What a horrible thing for her to go through--so sorry! Hope you guys get your CC soon!
