Patrick's birthday is April 29. I've been thinking about buying him some of his favorite British foods that he's been missing and cooking them up for him on his birthday. The only problem is that I'm unsure of where to get them. I can order them online of course, but I'd rather go somewhere and get them. I like seeing the product I'm buying. However, if I do go the online route, I'm sure some of you have ordered British foods online and might have some recommendations. Please help! It's not that long before his birthday and I need some guidance. I've been looking for Irn Bru, but have found out that it's contraband in the United States since the company won't list their ingredients. That would have been awesome because he really misses Irn Bru. Oh well, I guess he'll have to do without that particular one. Thanks for any help in advance!!

Interesting - I was in a British goods store in Arizona a few weeks ago and they had a shelf full of Irn Bru. Are you sure about the law? Surely it would prohibit Coca-Cola too?

There are several places you could try, for example do you have a CostPlus World Market nearby? They have a selection of imported foods, and last time I looked (I don't live near one any more) had a lot of English food. Of course its mainly stuff in cans, jars or cookies.

There may be an import store in your area as well. 2 out of 3 places I've lived in the USA have had a UK food import store within 30 miles of my house. Not where I am right now though, although my local grocery store does have a small section (Wegmans, but you don't have those in Georgia).

I bought a can Irn Bru the other day. Its not "contraband"!

It's modified Irn Bru. They sell it in the same packaging, but they can't sell the true stuff over here. Irn Bru won't give out their recipe. I thought about buying it, but I don't know how closely it tastes to the real Irn Bru.

I buy regularly from britishdelights.com - they also sell Irn Bru.

I also have bought such things as Kerrygold and Lurpak butter and also some cheese from Publix - I get weetabix and some biscuits from there also.

When my Brother in law was over last year, we bought some Irn-Bru. He did not notice the change.

If you were in Los Angeles, I could direct you to at least two stores that sell Irn-Bru.

Can't help with Atlanta.

Tastes exactly the same to me. Also the can looks identical to the UK one. Where did you read this about not selling the "true stuff" in the USA? Sounds like apocryphal bollocks to me.

I'm not sure, I read it on an internet article the other day. I hope it is bollocks because I'd like for my husband to have it on his birthday. :)
