The I-865 is for US sponsors of the immigrating person.  If a person immigrated to the US on spousal or fiancee visa, the US person would need to sponsor, promise to repay the government any 'benefits' the person claimed.  This is technically a requirement, but if situation arose and the USCIS wanted to enforce seeking damages, they would be able to find you anyway.  As the US sponsor, I filled it out to remain compliant.  The ROC should not be based on the sponsor's address, though - it should be based on the address on the I-751 and address on file (updated by the AR-11).

Short answer: Yes.  Long answer: Not really.

I doubt divorced US sponsors are eager to file their updated address and that outdated addresses are abundant.

Thanks for your reply!

I was on H1B work visa for many years, so I did not come here on my spouse's support.

So I think AR-11 alone for me should be good :)

regards

Steve

Congratulations to all recent approvals!!!! I am very happy to see that VSC is moving so quickly for everyone in that service center. Unfortunately we are at CSC and still waiting.... We drove 4 hours yesterday, to Alburqueque. Showed up to our appointment. The USCIS officer was not happy that we were out of their jurisdiction to stamp my wife's passport. I let her know no available appointment at our local office. She went on to tell us that if it would have been anyone else in that office they would have turned us away, but she was going to stamp and extend my wife's passport. So now the stamp on her passport is valid until 01/08/2019. We will patiently continue to wait....

Wow! Good for you that you got that stamp, it sounds like the IO had a bit of a superiority complex mixed with attitude. Good to hear that it wasn't a wasted trip. My hubby and I drove 3.5 hours to Minneapolis in November for my stamp and thank goodness the IO was very gracious and helpful, even though it was several months early to worry about my extension expiring. Sometimes I guess they don't realize the stress and inconvenience this process causes...especially when the service center is so backed up. Still twiddling my thumbs out here in the flatlands, but at least I'm good until November 2018. Should be a citizen by then, with any luck! :)

I haven't received the card yet and the status is still the same. I think it is taking too long. Does anyone has this experience? What should I do? I think there is a mistake somewhere. Did they change the status to Card was mailed? If they did you have to wait 1 month, after that if you did not receive the card you should  go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that they send your new card to you.

I-485 (AOS)

04/01/2015 Sent Form I-485.

05/06/2015 Scheduled the interview and mailed its notice.

06/16/2015 The Post Office picked up mail containing the new card.

06/16/2015 The 2 years Green Card was mailed to me.

06/18/2015 The 2 years Green Card in hand.

I-751 (ROC)

03/13/2017 Sent I-751 documents to CSC.

03/14/2017 Package received.

03/16/2017 Check cashed.

03/??/2017  NOA received.

03/14/2017 NOA dated.

02/26/2018 Case transferred to my local office.

05/01/2018 Case transferred to another office.

05/03/2018 Case transferred to another office.

05/07/2018 Received letter in mail, my case was transferred to NBC. "Letter's date is 05/01/2018"

06/05/2018 Received letter in mail, they will do an interview at the same time, date and location of my N-400 interview. "06/21/2018"

06/21/2018 The combo interview (with N-400 interview). But it's still pending until they send me the result of this interview.

06/27/2018 The case was approved, with the N-400 approval.

06/30/2018 Received the approval letter in mail.

N-400 (Under 3 Years Rule)

04/02/2018 Applied for N-400 Online. (I-751 is still pending)

04/27/2018 Biometrics.

05/14/2018 Scheduled the N-400 interview.

06/21/2018 Interview's date.

Passed the English test and the U.S. history and government test.

But: A decision cannot be made yet about my application. The reason is my pending I-751 file!

07/09/2018 Oath Ceremony was scheduled.
