That - Is - Very - Interesting....

I thought it was settled that the letter expired one year from the expiry date of the Conditional Green Card NOT from the date of the letter itself..

It could be that the officers at that border crossing are making a mistake, but that's not a battle I'd like to find myself in, trying to convince them that they are wrong... 😳

I actually told the CBP officer, with all due respect you are wrong, and he responded ok, you'll get charged $585 every time she crosses. I left it at that, told him I was going to call USCIS.

Managed to get an infopass appointment in LA right now. Try checking if you need one. I feel like I won the lottery!

Thanks for the heads up!

It shows the calendar for this week in the LA office, but no availability :(

Either way, still better than in the SFV office where I can't even see the calendar.

Has anyone had any luck going without an appointment to get the stamp?

I tried with a certain zip code and lots of availability showed up for the LA office in downtown. Private message me if you want to know more.

Hi espared12, I thought your problems at the border had ended long ago. I'm sad to hear that's not the case.

The officer is wrong. USCIS reworded the letter in July 2017 to get rid of this unnecessary confusion.

Here's what the extension letter now says - maybe you should print it out?

I hope you guys are well. Our AOS journey together and the dreaded 'Notice of Potential Interview Waiver' letter seems like a lifetime ago now lol'

Take care :-)

How very nice to hear from you!! And yes, the nightmare continues.... We got our receipt notice in January of 2017. I'm glad to see the wording was addressed. Unfortunately what the CBP officers say goes. Our letter is not specific, and there is no way in hell that I'm giving them $585 every time they hold my wife hostage as we cross the border, we do that every weekend. The USCIS officer at the US embassy in Juarez also read our letter and said the letter expires 1 year of receipt date, believe me, I asked. I just hope we don't get any grief from the USCIS Field Office in Alburqueque since it is a 4 hour drive.

Thank you

They will be processing other visas as well as ROC, however they had a  vast surge of DACA cases to get through and the figures for DACA filings had doubled over the previous year.  They were obviously concentrating on that, as it was more urgent. That surge  has come to an end the deadline was in October. (extended to some as there was a mail issue).Obviously with that ending in October California now have more manpower to concentrate on all other visas including ROC.

Hi Espared12, This really sounds discriminatory that you are experiencing this. I am so sorry to hear this. I wonder if you can get a politician involved. There is no question that the letter expires one year after the date on the green card! Good luck. You started this Jan 2017 Filers thread, I haven't forgotten!

Still waiting on our approval and we would be running into the same problems with traveling/renewing driver's license so we made an InfoPass appointment. Due to inclement weather here, people must have canceled their appointments - we looked last night and there was availability  for this morning! My husband had no trouble getting a stamp and he was out within 20 minutes. This was at the Mt. Laurel, NJ office.

When I check the processing time : on this website : https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do go below and click CSC

I can read on the top of the grid :

Field Office Processing Dates for California Service Center as of: October 31, 2017

I-751 Petition to Remove the Conditions on Residence Removal of lawful permanent resident conditions (spouses of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents August 20, 2016

At the very bottom it says : Last Updated: December 26, 2017

How do you interpret this ? I think it means that there is a 2 months gap and that we will hear from them in March/April 2018. Please correct me if im wrong.

There is a 2 month gap, however they use the date for a service request from the above date and not in real time if you understand what I mean. In other words if you are California you cannot put in a service request saying they are late looking at your case file if your date is after 20th August, even though they are probably working on Sept/Oct applications.  I guess it gives them extra bit of leeway, although I think 14 to 16 months is disgraceful, especially when some people don't even see the GC they have applied for if they have applied for the N400 concurrently.
