I am traveling to Russia. And I have a connecting flight in Helsinki.

USCIS misspelled my last name on NOA. My lawyer sent them a request to update the name. So they did that but they didn't sent a replacement NOA. They never do that. I went to the infopass appointment and the officer said that i am good to travel. They will check my information using the alien number on my expired GC. And they will see that the name is updated in the system. Hope everything is going to be ok!

I traveled last April to Mexico for my sister's wedding. The only difference I noticed is that when we arrived to the US I had to go to the agent (with my US citizen wife) and show my letter. I did the kiosk thing but it was (obviously) rejected. Nothing too bad, considering that I had to do the same thing after my trip to Dubai last year with an unexpired GC anyways.

Yes. I have been to Europe twice and Canada once. Haven't had any issues. Just remember to take your letter along with your green card as you will need to show both at customs.

I'm assuming we all have our extension letters expiring some time in January 2018 (Mine was issued on January 30, 2017). Do we have any update on/think that the petition for removal of conditions will be processed by then? And if that doesn't happen then we need to get an infopass appointment for them to issue us some additional proof (stamp on passport?). Does anyone have any insight into what the process for these appointments is or when should we ideally make the appointments for?

Do we need a I-551 stamp if the extension letter is still unexpired?

No, i don't think we need a stamp if the letter is still unexpired but given the processing times that the uscis website currently has online, it seems likely that our cases won't be processed by the time our letters expire (fingers crossed that's not the case)!

I will have to go back and check, but I am pretty sure we can file an n400 while the I-751 is still being processed, if our residency falls within the allowed timeframe. Apparently this forces USCIS to speed up and adjudicate the I-751. I read this here on VJ and apparently lots of people have done it.

I had an Infopass appointment today, he said as long as we are in the time frame we can apply for the citizenship while the I-751 is still being processed. We don't need to wait to get the new green card specially since they are so backed up.

I had an Infopass specifically to inquire about this since I have a trip next week. The officer told me had to take both the green card and the letter. He said both of them show the case is pending and act as a valid green card for the next year. He also warned me not to lose the letter as they only send one.

Hi Elin123,

Are you planning on having the extension letter translated into Russian? I'm just wondering if Russian customs (or security check point, that will check your travel documents)  know about the extension letters. Would greatly appreciate if you could share your experience upon your return!

My wife (whose the one under AOS) and I have traveled to Canada via car in May (after her GC expired). We had no issues with either border crossing. We're also traveling to Europe in a month and she required a Schengen visa. She had her appointment this past week. She told me that the consular officer first said they couldn't accept the letter as proof of re-entry, but then he asked his boss who said it was okay. She then got approved and was told that the rest of the Schengen area had to approve (but that there should be no issues). We'll find out for sure this week when the passport comes back.

We filed for our 10 year green card extension (I-751) in January 2017. We received the one year extension which will expire in January 2018. My wife is Filipina and we want to travel to the Bahamas at Christmas to visit my brother who works there. I read where Philippine Passport holders need a VISA to enter the Bahamas??? I hope my wife can get a Visa to the Bahamas and then we have no troubles leaving the USA and reentering the USA??? We also will be going on a 11 day cruise after the Bahamas. I would not like it if my wife were NOT allowed reentry into the USA where she lives and works.
