I have no kids with my husband but I listed my stepdaughter because she lives with us and we have listed her in all applications before too. I don't know if you have to list him but the form gives you two boxes to check if he applies with you and if he lives with you.

I personally have also explained in the attachments on Paige 11 why I listed my stepdaughter and that she's not my biological daughter.Maybe this answers your question!?

We did not list my step daughter because she does not live with us.  The directions say to only list children that live with you. So if your stepson lives with you, then you will need to list him.

Yes..thanks but I've been seen here that they use to charge $85 more for biometrics ...!!! Is that true?

Thanks to answer me ..and yes he lives with us ...but is that true they charge $85 more to his biometrics  fingerprints...??

Is your stepchild US citizen or does he apply with you?if he is US citizen you don't have to pay an extra $85. 

That's why I explained in the attachments on Paige 11 that my stepdaughter is my husbands child and that she is a citizen.

just got my biometrics appointment today.

I am expecting to get an approval a year from now... however we can apply for citizenship as soon as we become eligible.  I see myself filing for N-400 while my I-765 is pending for approval.

Something a bit unrelated to the process but it might help people that want to do it.

I will be changing jobs in a few weeks so I needed an I-551 stamp on my passport to present as evidence of my employment eligibility since my conditional GC is expired and the Notice of action is not accepted for the I-9. I made an infopass appointment for my field office (Fresno) and took my receipt, my biometric letter, my passport and my job offer letter with me. I arrived 30 minutes early and had no problems going in. Once I reached the IO he asked how could he help so I explained my situation, I offered all my documents but he only took my GC and my NOA, looked at his computer for a few and looked at my file and pics (I know because he asked me if I went to certain college because of a pic in the package) and asked me if I was still married, I responded yes, still married. He then grabbed my passport and put the stamp on it. He explained to me that I shouldnt have any problems since I was still married but pointed out to not change my address until I actually move or the process can be delayed a bit. I was out in about 20 minutes since I got to the office.

Thanks for sharing, I actually didn't know that the extension letter wouldn't work for the I-9! 

 

As a different option, couldn't you also have brought your Driver's license (B evidence) and Social Security Card (C evidence) to complete the I-9?

People can do that but unfortunately I have been slacking a bit, I still have my original SSC with the legend "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" (I got it when I was a grad student). I'll get an unrestricted one when I get my new GC.

Trust me I get it. Always a pain to sit at your local SSN office... I didn't know USCIS would give us a 551 stamp in these circumstances so glad your brought that up as I might find myself in this situation soon too.

Under part 7, I put my Husband name and select "1b" because he doesn't speak well English, so do I have to fill out the Part 9 as interpreter?

or i should just select 1a under part 7, to avoid that process?

Sounds about right for CSC applicants. As of today, they're still working on those who filed in May 2016. Unless, of course, I'm mistaken. Not quite sure about VSC applicants, though.
