Yes! I applied online on March 21 and on March 22nd I received a letter in the mail saying my 751 had been transferred to Texas. It was approved less than two months later.

You can file for N400 while your I751 is processing? My husband got a RFE notice on Feb 2018 and they received our response for RFE on April 2018. Can we file N400 while our RFE is pending and processing? How does that work? Can someone please explain this to me. Thank you

If I were you, I would just respond to RFE and get I-751 out of the way. But yes it is possible to file N-400 as long as you meet the criteria.

I  have I751 pending in CSC. I am a Jan 2017 Filers. they transferred my I751 to NBC on May 3rd 2018.

I applied for N400 in Jan 2018. Chicago is my local Office. I had an interview on May 22nd for N400. I thought they combine my N400 and I751 together but they were not.

IO asked me why you applied for N400 even if your I751 is pending? I said I called USCIS and one of the representative told me that you're eligible to apply that is the reason I applied.

Then IO start with N400 interview. I passed all the tests.

At the end , he again asked your condition needs to be removed first before you apply for the citizenship.

I said my spouse is here if you want to take I-751 interview. He said why would I take an interview with your spouse? I said we apply jointly for I751 condition to be removed. He said You should not apply N400 before I751 approved.

He said he will see what he can do in this case.

It is been more than 10 days now. no status update. I 751 is still with NBC.

Does anyone have any idea?

@Rmsh I'm sorry you had to go through that... I had a similar experience when I went to my N-400 Bio appointment. The woman asked me who told me I can apply to citizenship while my I-751 is pending, I told her that the Immigration officer told me on my InfoPass appointment and she still went on telling me I shouldn't have and it will not be approved until my I-751 is approved... But try not to worry about it, they might not know all the rules at your local office but they do at NBC.

This just makes me want to apply for N-400 even more now while I-751 is pending. I wouldn't worry about it.

Ok so I checked the uscis app and it says my card is being produced effective today!

But when I check my.uscis.gov it still says my case was transferred in May 8, 2018

i don’t know which one to believe :/ don’t want to get my hopes up

USCIS

January 8th 2014 - NOA1

July 10th 2014 - NOA2

NVC

July 17th 2014 - Case shipped to NVC

July 30th 2014 - Case received by NVC

August 13th 2014 - Case number and IIN received by email

August 13th 2014 - DS-261 Form Completed

August 14th 2014 - AOS Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 17th 2014 - IV Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 19th 2014 - DS260 Completed

October 6th 2014 - AOS and IV Packages Received

November 28th 2014 - AOS and IV Checklist (4 items in total. 3 for documents they lost. Called on December 9 and a rep said no checklist for IV....go figure)

December 8th 2014 - Checklist scan date.

December 30th 2014 - Case Compl........NOT. So after not having an interview date yet, I called again on Jan 30th and apparently its in final review with a supervisor.

February 6th 2015 - Case Complete: Supervisor called from NVC to confirm everything has been completed now.

March 27 2015 - Interview Date

March 27 2015 - Approved!

Sometimes it takes a while for the app and the site to sync in. Did you check the dhs.gov website?

I def think its good news for you.. yay!

I got a transfer notice the same day as you and I remember our case history was exactly the same, hoping for some good news for me as well :D

The DHS site still says case transferred but the regular USCIS case status site says that card is being produced. I hope the site is correct and I hope you get an update soon too!

I had checked the site in the morning and nothing and when I checked at noon it caught me by surprise.

Well, if it wasn't taking so dang long to adjudicate I-751 cases they wouldn't be dealing with the I-751/N-400 back-to-back cases.  And again, it sounds like this IO has a completely different idea of how the system works, compared to other IOs who are used to seeing the combined cases.

If the ultimate goal is to gain citizenship, why should we have to wait just because USCIS offices are horribly backlogged - either due to substantial increases in applications, or due to system glitches?

I am sorry this happened to you. I truly hope that a supervisor or someone pushes to have your cases completed.

Since you applied N400, are they gonna make a new card for you?

I don't quite understand your question. I received my 10 year card on May 25th and my N400 has been under review since April 12. I got my card, the next thing will be naturalization.

Yes, what @mycase17said. I was eligible under the 3 year rule so I just went ahead and applied.

And to answer your other question, my 1 year extension had also expired so I went to my field office and they stamped my passport with a 1 extra year extension. Bring your extension letter and they'll stamp yours too

Thank you for your response. there are some people here applied N400 while I751 pending, but they didn't get their card because their N400 is coming soon. Maybe just a rumor. Big congrats to you.

Now i have hope that I may get approve my I751 first then have the N400 interview ( not only combo interview as an option), But mine transfer to NBC not Texas.
