Good for you. This visa processing is unorganized and very random, every person has a different timeline, is not based on priority or who applied first at all.

I had applied on Jan 27th 2017 CSC, never got a transfer notice or anything like that, just the generic message, March 5th saying, your case has been transferred to local office, nothing in mail at all.

The wait continues, no clue what is happening with my application.

We do have quite a bit of people from Jan 2017 in our group, CSC filers with no transfer notices (in mail or online) who are just waiting....

regards

Steve

Just so you know, I got the transfer notice after my 751 was approved, but they also approved my 400 which might have been a mistake because my husband passed away 3 days after the 400 interview. It is a mess, but I am going to the oath next week as ordered, I should know what is going on next week.

I totally agree. They took ages to adjudicate our cases, which seems they don't want to make any mistakes on it. However, there are so many insane mistakes we have seen so far. Isn't it ironic?

NBC transferred my case along with my N400 to my local field office which is Newark. In other words I have to appear for interview for both my cases. they will be adjudicated together.

Hi,

So when was your case transferred to NBC? And when was it transferred from NBC to Newark? Did you receive any email notification for the transfer from NBC to Newark?

I never got any notification on case transfer to NBC before May 7th.  i got one notification regarding i751 on May 7th that my case was transferred to my local office. May 8th i got a notification for my N400 case that my interview was scheduled.

I see, that means your case was transferred to NBC a lot earlier than us, maybe the clerk forgot to key in the update so that system didn't send notification to you.

I guess it supposed to be a notification on I 751 when it moves from NBC to local office later on for us who had our cases transferred in early May.

Exactly. I will find out if they made a mistake or not. I will try hard to protect myself for the long run too. My lawyer advised me if they end up naturalizing me regardless my husband's passing, I need to have evidence that shows I answered every question truthfully under oath so they won't use it against me in the event of their attempt to denaturalize me. What Trump and his justice department have been doing to our immigration scare me though. We will see what happens.

Yesterday (May 17, 2018) I had my interview in Omaha for the N-400 and adjudication of my I-751 at 9:20 am.

I'm going to go into more detail on the N-400 thread but the immigration officer was friendly and we got through it quickly.

He did not mention the I-751 so once the N-400 part was done I asked about it.

He said he was satisfied with the evidence I sent in so did not even need to call my wife in!

I sent in quite a bit of stuff:

-  joint bank statements

-  birth cert for our son

- beneficiary documents for life insurance showing each other as beneficiaries

- 6-7 photos of us together with the dates varying from 2014 - 2018

- 4 years of tax transcripts from the IRS

- recent utility bills with our names and address

So it worked out pretty well and I was approved.  They offered me a slot in the administrative naturalization oath ceremony that was taking place that day.

I took the oath and became a citizen that afternoon.

To everyone awaiting adjudication, I know you will get there.

Stay strong and don't stress - it looks like the January approvals are coming through now.

My sympathies to you and your family.

My guess is that since you were approved for the N-400, you should be okay. I was told at an InfoPass appointment a few weeks ago that USCIS have to adjudicate and approve the I-751 before they approve the N-400, even it is done the same day.

I have been getting multiple email notices about the I-751 application being transferred to another office today even though I took the oath yesterday (and several over the last month), so it may be just their application system processing it a little behind actual events.

Since your circumstances changed after being approved for the N-400,  you should definitely disclose it on your oath form. Talk to the USCIS staff beforehand and let them know - be sure you emphasize that you were approved before your husband passed away. If you have documentation to bring as evidence, such as a death certificate, I think that will suffice to allow you to take the oath that day.

Honestly, so long as you have been upfront and honest with USCIS you should be fine. They may re-schedule your oath ceremony if you don't have the documentation to hand yet.

Best of luck with your oath ceremony next week - hope it works out okay.

Oh thank you so much. You are the first one who told me you were still getting updates even after you took the oath, so I am not the only one, I am not worried about the two updates anymore. Thanks for confirming that with me. Yes, of course, I will he honest and upfront, and I will have my husband's death certificate ready, I have already filled out the 445. Maybe they will naturalize me anyway, if that is the case, that will be a miracle and I will also try to have them stamped on the copy of my 445 for self protection as instructed by my lawyer because as long as I answer the form truthfully under oath, I will be ok if they naturalize me, if not, I will just re apply for 400 next August. I Just have to have a copy stamped or signed by USCIS if they end up naturalizing me. Thanks for your condolences. I am glad my immigration journey is coming to an end soon. Congrats to your naturalization.
