Interviews are normally very rare. There's no way they can interview the thousands of people who got the local office message. We would have to wait several years!!

I am thinking out of all the CSC filers on our forum, only a handful have got moved to local offices, does that mean these handful will be getting interviewed?

I think yes, as per previous blogs that I was reading on the Visajourney.

https://www.murthy.com/2013/08/19/uscis-transfers-case-types-to-balance-workload/

"The transfer of a case to a local USCIS office often means the government has additional questions about the case and will be requesting an in-person interview with the applicant"

https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/i-751-transfer-from-vermont-to-local-office--1446447.html

Check this link, it says,

https://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/AFM/HTML/AFM/0-0-0-1/0-0-0-1067/0-0-0-1302.html

"Cases being transferred from a service center to a local office for interview or investigation based on existing relocation criteria should be reviewed by a supervisory officer before the transfer is initiated to ensure that the matter cannot be readily resolved through correspondence or in-house research"

Existing relocation criteria, meaning the AR11 that I had submitted back in Jan.

Thing is, we aren't getting a "case transfer" message. This is a "received at local office" message. I think people are misinterpreting it. Also when we went to an InfoPass appointment to talk to the officer, they said they did NOT have our case at their office - therefore no interview. That was several days after the "local office" message.

Also, filers from both CSC and VSC are getting it, even those from late 2017. A few even got approved without any kind of interview.

There's simply no way all of these people are getting interviews.

They may, however, be trying to speed up the overall processing. That's still up in the air.

We are overthinking it way too much. Our cases were sitting without movement for over a year. Now its finally being processed. Even if there is an interview - I don't see any issues with it, but I personally think the reason for transfer is the extreme backlog. So transferring it will expedite the processing. Stay positive, we almost there!

Hey guys, I wanted to share my case with all of you. I have checked my case yesterday and got the same message.

Case Was Received At My Local Office

On a different note, I know there has been some conflicting information on this board based on what USCIS officers have said regarding filing for naturalization while the I-751 is under review. According to the officer at our InfoPass appointment last week in Des Moines, there is no problem with filing for naturalization while the I-751 is under review. He said that if for some reason the naturalization paperwork is ready to be approved before the I-751 paperwork has been, then the reviewing officer will simply adjudicate on both.

Steve,

I think your going over reacting, that 1st link also says it's done to balance workload. As you can see VSC were popping approvals and nothing happening with CSC. I believe its' to balance the workload and as someone mentioned some got approved without an interview.

Transferring Cases From Vermont Service Center to California Service Center

In order to balance workloads, USCIS recently began transferring some cases from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center. The affected cases include:

How You Will Be Affected

If your Form I-130 case is being transferred, we will send you a notice listing the transfer date and the new location where your case will be processed. Your original receipt number will not change and this will not delay your case’s processing except for the additional time needed to transfer the file to the new location.

If your Form I-751 case is being transferred, we will send you a notice listing the transfer date and the new location where your case will be processed. Your original receipt number will not change and this will not delay your case’s processing except for the additional time needed to transfer the file to the new location. The words “Case Type: CRI89 Approved Removal on Conditions” will be printed on the transfer notice. This refers to your pending Form I-751. The transfer notice may not contain the original receipt number of your pending Form I-751.

The filing location and instructions for these forms will not change. Please continue to file the forms at the address noted on the form instructions and on the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov.

How to Track the Status of Your Case

You can check the status of your case by entering your receipt number in Case Status Online. You can also sign up to receive automatic case status updates by email.

If you do not receive a decision within the published processing time for the California Service Center then you may submit an inquiry using e-Request or call the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283. For TDD for the deaf and hard of hearing, call 1-800-767-1833.

When calling to ask about your case status, tell us your original receipt number and that your case was transferred to a new location.

If we send you any notice, such as a request for evidence, please read the notice carefully. Make sure you respond to the same service center that sent you the notice.

If you move while your case is pending, then you must tell us your new address as soon as possible after you move so we can notify you of any action on your case. You can change your address online or by calling the USCIS Contact Center.

THEY received my case at the local office, what does it mean ?

Same as other Jan 2017 filers - basically from what I see they are balancing the case workload as California is backed up - they working on Sept 2016, and haven't touched Jan 2017 and on top I'm sure they recieved new Jan 2018 cases as well.

They are sending these over to local offices to quickly adjunt the cases and finish the back log - according to a good friend of mines.
