I filed my petition already but will need to change my passport in the next few months. I used my passport as my citizenship validation on the I-129. Does anybody know when they run the security checks on the USC? And if I change my passport before they run the checks will this cause an issue?

This site is very helpful. Thank you in advance and nice to meet you all.

Likely a non-issue. If questioned, simply describe the circumstances....

Thank you for the encouragement.

I guess I'll just delay renewing it as long as possible in the hope of avoiding an RFE.

That may not necessarily be the best course of action. People renew their passports all of the time during the immigration process. When you go in for an interview or InfoPass appointment, make a point to bring the old and new passports with you, and explain the circumstances.

With the now often-protracted processing times, an RFE may be a blessing in disguise. At least you know that your application/petition is being actively processed. B-) The key with an RFE is to be proactive, promptly and accurately respond to their information request.

YMMV.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
