Hello @sandranj and everyone. I'm confused at moment because I got a notification through text and online to attend an interview on my previous i485 which I knew was denied because my spouse withdrew her i130 petition. I have a copy of the denial notice too but I only filed for vawa and did not bother to file to reopen it.

I need help and I'm confused on what to do.

That's really strange. Maybe you need to call them or schedule an infopass to find out why you have been scheduled despite a denial. It may also be an error from their end

VSC went from May 2nd to May 9th for I-360 VAWA petitions. One whole month and only one week further. Seems somewhat inaccurate though considering that July cases are being approved already.

At least they didn't move dates backward again ! don't count on those dates (in the past 3 months it was May then April then May again),so they probably are not reliable to us!

I hope yourand to add this is what I got in my email which is same as my case status online.

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.

Receipt Number: MSC169119XXXX

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Testing and Interview

On April 19, 2017, we scheduled you for your interview and mailed you an interview notice for Receipt Number MSC169119XXXX. Your interview is on May 23, 2017. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by May 19, 2017, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at 1-800-375-5283. Please note that not every application/applicant will require an interview. In some instances, an interview is required by regulation and others an interview is requested because USCIS has determined that this is the most efficient means to determine eligibility. For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).

Log-in to your myUSCIS account to view your case history and understand what you can expect to happen next on your case.

Current processing times can be found on the USCIS website at under Check Processing Times.

Sincerely,

Hi Aquila

I hope you fully recovered and your eyes are better now :)

Don't skip your scheduled appointment...

Some women here went to their appointments and requested to hold AOS until their VAWA decision is made!

It does seem puzzling since your petition's been withdrawn and/or denied I guess mistakes may happen, it could be good thing but either way it shouldn't hurt your pending VAWA anyway, you will have to clarify it with the immigration officer.

Hi everyone. @Hopeful diva @sandranj Thank you guys for your reply. God bless you! 😊

Did anyone do live scan for good moral character? If yes then may I know how you have done it? I got the police clearance from where I'm living now but I was in Chicago for 7 months in 2015 and my lawyer said I need police clearance from there too or I just do a live scan. If anyone here knows the process to do live scan can you please share it with me? Thank you!

Iampositive, I did live scan but it depends on your state. Check the department of Justice website for your site.

Hello all- I finally had my AOS interview yesterday- it lasted 15 mins.  The officer smiled and said she will review my case and I'm 10 days I will know the decision.  Is this good or bad? Location Houston TX

When the officer is new working there he/she can't approve the cases on the spot without having their supervisor approval.

Folks I explained here before how it works their charter.  On February 28, 2017 they were adjudicating the cases filed in May 2016, that being said they are still adjudicating the cases filed in July 2016.But I  had a few cases filed in August approved.

If your spouse/former spouse is a U.S Citizen you can apply for naturalization after 3 years as an LPR. If your spouse/former is an LPR then you can apply after 5 years. It's to you to hire an attorney or not, but the form is not complicated to fill out and you have the instruction for Form  N-400.

Hi -here is the full details:  It lasted 10 mins.  It was an older lady (60's) Officer Godard.  She made me swear in and repeated all questions in the I-485.  She then asked me if I was married and I said no and she took a copy of my DL, Passport and divorce cert.  She asked how I entered, the last date of entry - I answered.

She then smiled and said 10 days is when they will let me know the decision - she asked if I left the US after the last entry I said no.  She asked if I worked - I gave her my offer letter, W2 and pay stubs thus far.  I also signed a waiver of attorney presence.

I then kindly requested that she changed my name on my green card back to my maiden name  - she asked why didn't I do this at the divorce- I said I was not at the hearing due to low funds - she looked at thee divorce cert and remarked she didn't realize he filed for divorce.  She asked why didn't I file for the divorce is said "Ma'am I was not in touch with him and I had no money to go through this procedure".  She said okay.

Today I checked my status online : It indicated my name was updated.  The officer did say she'd ask her supervisor to approve this.

Fingers crossed - hopefully I get the card in the mail.
