I am no expert but I looked it up quick for you, from what I found it shouldn't take longer than 60 days. Go to your congressman right away and have them inquire on your behalf.

Hello, i dont know how to quote the person in refering to, but for the one asking about the change of address: USCIS requires you to update your address everytime you move, but it is only a form you send or you can do it online, my personal advice would be do that before the interview then go to the already scheduled interview and once approved you tell them that you have moved and send it to the new address and that you already updated your address online, but im not an expert thats what i would do, i know a girl from another forum with the same situation, she had interview last december but she didnt go and sent a letter requiring to move the interview to current state, now is march and she hasnt receive a new apt date, so it will just delay your date

Re the address update. In your position I would update the address. It is better to play by the rules if USCIS than sit there and explain why you did not to one of their people.

I can't imagine they'll change your interview. But if they do is that really awful? You clearly have permission to work and are doing so.

Ashan04 I have once case like yours ,one girl lived in Connecticut and moved to Texas and  she didn't update the address. She went to  the interview in NYC, and the officer told that she couldn't have interview in NYC because she was living in Texas. Well they reschedulled the interview after 5 months in Texas, after they canceled the inteview in NYC.

I don't think they will allow you to attend the interview in your old address. You MUST change your addrewss within 10 days after moving to a different place.Change your address filing AR11 wait 10 days and go toinfopass to confirm if thy changed the address because most of the time they don't update the address.USCIS is really messy regarding changing address.

You need to send  a certified letter to the local office informing that you live in a  different addres and because of this you will not attend the inteview.Keep in mind they are messy then after sending the letter wait 7/10 days and call the local office  to confirm that they canceled the interview.

You can call them before doing everything I said and ask if you can attend the interview in Iowa or not.

Jesus 123 as far I understood your sister was found  inadmissible based on 212 Under section 212(a)(9)(C)(i) .She should hire an attorney to check the documents  that she has because her case is a bit complicated.

VAWA Waiver

The only waiver of the permanent bar provided for by statute is for Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-petitioners.  In order to be granted a VAWA waiver of the permanent bar, the self-petitioner must establish a connection between his or her battering or subjection to extreme cruelty and his or her removal or departure from, or reentry, or attempted reentry into the United State.

https://casetext.com/posts/what-is-the-permanent-bar-under-section-212a9ci "

"... B) Section 212(a)(9)(C)(i)(I) of the Act - The Permanent Bar

This provision renders an individual inadmissible, if he or she has been unlawfully present in the United States for an aggregate period of more than one (1) year, and who enters or attempts to reenter the United States without being admitted.

An alien, who is inadmissible under section 212(a)(9)(C)(i)(I) of the Act is permanently inadmissible; however, after having been outside the United States for at least ten (10) years, he or she may seek consent to reapply for admission pursuant to section 212(a)(9)(C)(ii) of the Act and 8 CFR 212.2 . A waiver is also available for certain Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-petitioners under section 212(a)(9)(C)(iii) of the Act.

The 10-year absence requirement does not apply to a VAWA self-petitioner who is seeking a waiver under section 212(a)(9)(C)(iii) of the Act, rather than seeking consent to reapply under section 212(a)(9)(C)(ii) of the Act.

Adella I have one case that the guy had the interview almost 1 year ago and until now he didn't get his green card. His congress person inquired on his behalf 3 times and he went to infopass 4 times and USCIS keep saying that they are doing background check.

Thank you for your response. Why it's happenings? Is there any reason ? Or it's just random people? All girls who were with me in the same day they got green cards already.

Amaya I remember two cases here on visa journey that they had the vawa cases denied because  USCIS did not consider the expired restraining orders, but i saw many cases approved with the restraining  order expired, that  being said they  may accept or not.

Thank you so much sandra today I'm going to the family court to see if I can get a new one if not I'm going to take a chance and send it like that
