I just got a biometrics appointment for my I-485 AOS.  I only submitted my VAWA package (I-360, I-765, & I-485) on February 16th, 2017.  Thank God something is happening.

Does anyone know if it is normal to hear about biometrics before the I-765 (C9)?

Congrats! That is very fast. Yes, it is normal to have biometrics appointment before EAD.

Yes I did.  If I thought it might help my case I made a copy, put it on the list of appendices and sent it.  I also made it as neat as possible. I figure what makes their life easy can't harm me.

I did try to be careful not to send stuff that had no value to my case.  But I am not a lawyer.  I was really just guessing and praying (and crying).

I thought it was cute and funny that aquila thought it was some 3" attachment that he missed out on :)

I think you did your part very well, I filed in November and hit a bunch of roadblocks because my lawyer is so careless it's not even funny and he actually hurt & delayed my case... so you are better off no need for an attorney when you know what you're doing. As for crying & anxiety and insomnia, all that only made me physically sick and more depressed! Now I keep reminding myself now that these things will shorten my life not my waiting time.

Don't worry just have faith and all will be good.

I pray for us to be approved and all women who got abused &  felt helpless and isolated (F)

Hi Sandranj,

I am aware that if you re-marry before VAWA is approved, you have to withdraw the application, but what happens if you have a baby before VAWA is approved and it is not the abuser's child?

1

The reason I ask is that abuser has wasted around 4 years of most important time and now being a woman, and on borderline for kids and would love to have one through sperm bank and do not want to get into another relationship/marriage so soon. Abuser fooled, cheated and wasted life saying he is interested in 2 kids when he was only using.  Not sure how long VAWA will take for approval.

Ugh That is awful. One lawyer wanted a $14,000 retainer (I laughed).  I did go to an immigrant justice center and they said I had a good case.  They also said it was important for me to have a lawyer with me during my interview (they gave two specific reasons which I agree with). I am sorry you had that experience.  Generally I think they are good but I don't believe in not being informed anymore.  Not since my husband's did what he did with my papers.

So I just need to find a pro-bono attorney to help me between now and then.  I keep working on that.

As for the crying, I think your mistaking my crying for some kind of morbid reflection on my part.  It's not. All emotions are God given and I went long enough restricted in my marriage.

Sue1234 the person cannot get married BEFORE VAWA APPROVAL, but if you did not get married then there is no problem, even if you have a child. But USCIS will look your case a little bit more than the others cases  if you became pregnant right after the separation, to see if your marriage was a bonafide marriage or not...

Edit: I just saw your second post now,  if you will use a sperm bank then in case USCIS asks you about the child just tell them the truth and you should be fine. Make sure you are working and have a stable life to have  a  child.Good luck.
