I'm only about a month before you I think, but my process has been dragged by my lawyer since May 2016, I resubmitted again Nov 30th, I truly hope this one goes well & pray for all of us to get freedom after all the stress.

Anyway try to send your extra info soon, hopefully we won't be delayed by RFE's

Have a good night  :-)

Hello everybody!

i have a question, what do they mean when they put your case in deferred action? Just to know more about this process, thank you!

@Adella2016From what I know it takes 15 months for the FBI fingerprints to expire then you've to redo another one, if that's your situation then I guess you've to either wait for another biometric appointment or probably maybe seek an info pass with your attorney.

Yes, my fingerprints were expired. But nobody called me to get a new one, though. They sent me notice about medical check, but no fingerprints.

On the interview lady told me that "3 weeks ll take to check your fingerprints again, old one". But it looks like 3 weeks three times. VAWA journey is really hard. First, you suffer from your own husband after you have to tell all of those things what happened with you to everyone, in the court, police, attorney, immigration...It's a torture.  it never ends. Without pill, I cannot sleep. I am so tired. I forgot when I was happy when I laughed.

In my country, I had so many nice dresses, clothes. When I open my closet I don't see this girl. I don't have hills, no dresses. Just ugly cheap stuff. I lost a desire to look good. Last time I went to the hairdresser and she asked me when I did last time hair cut, and I was thinking for 15 sec, about a year ago!! A year!!! I was so embarrassed.

I hope soon it will end, and I can move from the state to forget everything.

@Adella2016it's really not easy during these hard times, have faith and understand that no condition is permanent. It's no fault of ours to go through this but by the works our evil and cruel spouses. It's pain, sorrow and sorts of discomfort but never give up, there's always light at the end of this journey.

I just started my journey with vawa and since I mailed my case which was delivered Feb 17th  I've had no response yet. I'm hoping and praying for response.

Hello Shiobhan,

It seems all posts on this thread are from people who currently reside in the U.S.

It could  be helpful to pm Sadranj directlty; She's contacted by  many people so may be she came across a similar situation with someone overseas.

I don't know much about applying when the victims is not in the US. I know a victim is still eligible if the abuse happened in the US but I am not sure how exactly the process differs. I would assume it could take longer because the documents travel between different countries.
