I woke up now and  I got  13 emails about  VAWA approval, and 6 are members of Visa Journey.Praise the Lord.

Hi Sandra, would you care to share their receipt dates?

I don't understand why people come here to share their timelines but disappear when they get approved or denied. It helps others who are waiting just like other people's approval times helped you also. We are all waiting on pins and needles.

--Key Points--

- Filed with a single letter from a domestic violence counselor and my own detailed affidavit.

- (RFE) Had the burden of proving bonafides of marriage as I AM in Removal Proceedings.

-

TIMELINE:

11/13/2015- Filed Case

11/19/2015- Received reciceipt(NO PRIMA FACIE)

10/6/2016- Sent a hand written letter to USCIS inquiring about status of Case

11/5/2016- RFE received (Bonifides, Criminal History clearance)

1/7/2017- Responded to RFE

5/9/2017- Approved!!

//PS.  SANDRA! SANDRA SANDRA!

I can't say her name enough.

Though she did inform me the burden of proof would be higher with BONAFIDE exemption request.

She helped me with the template identifying the proper law to cite and links that truly helped. GOD BLESS SANDRA!

Thanks for sharing and congrats on the approval! What did you send for your RFEs that you didn't include in initial application?

What with her intrepid VAWA work, Sandra is indeed a saint.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

The  cases approved were filed in July and August  2016,and one case from May 2016. All cases didn't receive any request of evidence.

Hi @sandranj

thank you for all your help. God bless you.

may I ask if we received RFE, how does it affect our timeline for VAWA? Does it make it prolonged? Thanks

If you  receive and RFE, usually you have 87 days to answer, and you  take  2 months to answer then your Vawa will take two extra months to be adjudicated.

I have a question about reaching out to Congressman to check on case status? Do they reach out specifically to Vermont or the general USCIS. I asked my congressman to reach out for status of my i-360 and he just came back with the same answer that I got when I called general 1800, they are still processing, we sent you a prima facie extension and you have until the date on the renewal to wait, which means that they are saying I have to wait a year for processing since its prima facie is 6 months?

The Congressman office contacts directly to Vermont. If they give you the same answer with USCIS customer service, that means no decision has been made yet.

Thats what happened to me, too before I got approved.
