I don't often buy books, however I did purchase and read "Renewing American Civilization" by Newt Gingrich when it came out in 1997,

If you understand what made America a great country in the first place (historically) then you will understand where Newt Gingrich is "coming from" in his book - what points he is trying to make - the logic he is using - the conclusions he makes.

The "Progressives" have had almost half a century to "transform" America. Their perspective is always based upon what is wrong with America with obvious results - the most obvious being dividing one American against another by dividing and fragmenting America into various groups based upon ethnicity, sexual orientation, language and gender.

Gingrich simply reviews what made America great - what unified Americans as a unique nation - a study in American history which would be a valuable read for anyone desiring to become an American citizen.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Ahh, ......Newt!

The paragon of sleaze and hypocrisy

His name always reminds me of the witches' scene from Macbeth:

"Eye of newt, and toe of frog,

Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,

Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,

Lizard's leg, and howlet's wing,--

For a charm of powerful trouble,

Like a hell-broth boil and bubble."

Yes, America would be much better off if everyone was white, straight, Christian and spoke only English.

Sounds like more of the same old "liberals* are destroying the country" routine. I think I'll pass...

Personally, I blame Clinton for this.

It's all so boring and predictable. Tedious musings about "what is wrong" with our "great country", blaming one side of the partisan divide for flushing everything down the swanny. It just surprises me that noone else gets tired of it.

Indeed. "The problem is partisan politics, which is all the fault of the Democrats/Clinton!!!"

I've grown very tired of it all personally.

Celebrate diversity, unless it's a conservative.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I wonder why we all just get along? The so called "partisan divide" is what's destroying this country's political system. Everything has to be about right vs left, everyone has to be on one side or the other.

People's realities is much different from this, I for example would consider myself to have certain views that liberals would consider "right wing", and views on other matters that conservatives would consider "leftist". I think I'm not that unusual personally, and I wish there were politicians that could represent my views, rather than it being an either/or thing.

Anyone notice that idiot Nacy Pelosi going to Syria.

What freakin business does this stupid senator have to do that??

Another shifty positive move by a liberal right? That is, making a mockery of the US government internationally, just to win votes..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
