I am the petitioner... I am US citizen and my wife lives in Turkey...

I have received DS-230 form yesterday...

Who is going to fill DS-230 form and sign (Confused)?

As a petitioner should I fill the DS-230 and sign part I and fill part II (no signature) and send it to NVC?

One more question: It is not clear in the packet:

My wife (benificiary) is going to collect the documents, is she going to take them to interview or is going to mail to consulate?

Thanks for your help...

YuAndDan, this is the umpteenth time that you have given incorrect information on this issue. This will cause the other member a delay in their process. Please stop, as it is not helpful.

When part I & II of the DS-230 is required as in the case of Turkey according the the NVC site, both parts I & II are REQUIRED to be submitted to the NVC along with all the documentation requested by NVC. Part I should be completed and signed, Part II should be completed and not signed.

From the instructions for Turkey....

When complete

Please send the completed DS-230 forms (Parts 1 and 2) to the NVC along with any other documents requested in this information packet. Please use the envelope supplied by the NVC when returning the information.

This response above is accurate.

I did not send anything to the embassy in Ankara. It all went to the NVC. Turkey is different than many other countries in that the NVC will handles most of your paperwork, and when they have accumulated everything they need (including original documents etc..), they will then schedule you an interview date, and send all your documents to the embassy in Ankara.

You will NOT have to give them your wife's original passport, but can make copies of that. However, other documents...like her birth certificate, her police certificate, the marriage certificate, will HAVE to be originals......

The K-3 (we only did an IR-1) may be different as far as what what you actually have to send. But, in case, be prepared.....because it is possible you may have to submit it all to the NVC as well.

The form is an Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration - DS-230.

OK, WHO is applying for the visa to come to the U.S.?

Then THAT is WHO will sign the Application, ie: the "recipient" of the visa is also called the "applicant" for the visa.

P.S. There is a question in Part II that asks if anyone assisted you, the applicant, in filling out the application DS-230.

The NVC returned my wife's criminal record docunement back to me...

My wife got it from local office, but they sent it back to me without explanation...

Where and how did you get yours?

Would you please tell me?

Thanks

DS 230 part I must be signed by the foreign alien spouse (beneficiary, visa applicant) before you mail it to NVC. Don't forget to date it as well. DS 320 Part II must not be signed before you mail it to NVC. The Interviewer (The consular officer) will ask your wife to sign it in front of him/her during the interview.

You can call NVC and find out why they mailed them to you and what they want you to do. In the meantime, someone with similar experience can answer you hopefully.
