My fiance is living in China and not a resident, he is there on a business visa. After the interview and receiving the visa, he wants to go home to Algeria for a visit before coming to the U.S. I know he has six months before he comes here, my question is can he go home to Algeria and fly out from there and fly here to the U.S? I just wasn't sure how that worked, if the visa says he is approved but from the consolate in China, and yet he arrives from Algeria.

Might be a dumb question, just was curious. Thanks.

Having a US visa in your passport does not preclude you from other international travel. Many people have several valid visas in there passport.

YMMV

Hi my husband is from Algeria as well but was living in Spain on an expired Visa. He considered visitng Algeria before coming to the US but was concerned that the Algerian government would be angry about his overstay in Spain and possibly take away his passport (visa included). I don't really know too much about how the Algerian goverment works, but I would just say be careful if there is any chance of them taking away his passport.

Good Luck - PM me if you wanna talk more about the specific situation.

You do not have to arrive from the country of the issuing post. Many countries do not have direct flights to the US and you are required to travel to an intermediary city while enroute. When my fiancee comes, she could arrive in the US on a flight from Poland, England, Netherlands, or a host of other possibilities any of which we could stop and take a vacation in that city for a few days or few weeks while we are enroute....

Your wife being from Ukraine I believe needs a visa issued from that country in order to vacation there even if its en route to USA. The exception would be a country she could travel to without a visa such as Poland. So I don't know think she would be able to leave the airport in this situation.

Yes you are correct, but those are facts and circumstances beyond the original question..... and of course if we did this we would have all appropriate visas to facillitate our plans.....

BTW, now that Poland is EU, she needs a visa for there as well.....

YMMV
