Is picking up a Packet 3 at the embassy an option?

Hello, My Fiance and I are together in Moscow for the month, and she is waiting for her packet 3 to be mailed to her in her city (not Moscow) at this point. Based on timelines we predict it will happen in the next couple of weeks.

Since we are right here in Moscow for a while, it dawned on me that perhaps we can pick it up at the US embassy instead of waiting for it to be sent to her. They have a pretty snazy express line for US citizens here which I have taken advantage of before. I guess I am thinking it is worth a try, and if not then no harm done. But I know this whole process is a little touchy. Has anyone here considered doing this, or done this in the past? Any information is greatly appreciated.

BTW, does the packet 3 usually contain the interview date?

The interview date is scheduled after the return and review of the P3 documents. I doubt it would hurt to try dropping by the Embassy and asking but don't hold your breath.

In Kiev you can download it from the Consulates web site and send in the checklist via email. Perhaps you could get on the Russian US Consulates website and see if thats an option.
