Hi all,

I and my dad (my husband's cosponsor) are filling out the I-864's . If we are submitting copies of the tax returns (not official transcripts from the IRS) what should I also include (i.e. W-2's)? Should I also include Schedules, employer letters proving our current incomes, pay stubs, etc?

Do I have to prove current income?

Lastly, could anyone just write out a list of what I need to attach with the affidavits?

Thanks!

If you are including your tax returns vs tax return transcripts, you need to include the entire return including w2s, 1099, any and all schedules, worksheets, etc... everything that would be sent if paper filing. Tax return transcripts are easy to obtain and preferred.

you:

I-864

Proof of current income and/or assets

Entire tax return or tax return transcripts

Any domicile if needed

Dad:

I-864

Proof of current income and/or assets

Proof of citizenship or lpr status

Entire tax return or tax return transcript

(You can include 2015 or 2015 2014 2013)

Tax return transcripts can be mailed, downloaded, or gotten from an IRS office.

Thanks NikLR! If I get the transcripts online, would I only need to print out/include whatever I download from the IRS website when I request it?

Also, my mom filed jointly with my dad. Will she need to fill out an I-864A?

Yes. Make sure you print out the tax return transcript. There are more options but that's the one you need.

And she doesn't have to but it's recommended by members on this site, especially if she made income.

Awesome! Also my husband and I live with my parents but my dad would still have to fill out the I-864 and NOT the I-864A, correct?

Yes that's correct. :)
