Hey guys,

I was hoping you guys could give me some advice for someone I know. A friend of mine is getting married to a Moroccan. They filed the fiance visa in January 2006, not knowing anything about the process. He didn't go to the interview with pictures, emails, phone records or anything like that. It was sent back. They're finally getting their second chance soon. (don't know what the interview date is). However, she told me she wants to get married there this June.

I told her that her only real option is to abandon the fiance visa and wait until they're married and apply for a spouse visa. But I guess another option would be to perform the ceremony, but not sign any papers.

I think her family is already planning on going there, so they can't cancel the wedding now. Which idea do you think is best? Or are there any other options you can think of?

Thanks for your help!

Liz

timeline doesn't matter.

You know it really sucks that the gov't has to dictate when we can and can't get married. I mean if they didn't take so freakin' long with the K-1, then your friend wouldn't be in this pickle. Granted it was his fault for not being prepared but still, I hate situations like that!

All I know is that there is someone else that rarely comes here who originally filed a K-1 through Egypt, then got married and had to refile the K-3 and it's taking a loooong time to go through. Maybe that's because it's Egypt though and they just suck lemons. Frankly I'd just do it religiously and not civily but I'm sure that will start quite the thread.

It's far too risky to do this. There is someone here who did such a thing, then the fiance referred to her as his wife at POE and he was sent back. Never advise someone to do something that hides anything. They will pay for it at some point.

And the government doesn't say when we can get married. Everyone here chooses where they are in their lives, and if you choose to marry a foreigner in their country, then it takes time to get a visa.

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.
