POE SEATTLE

Hello. My fiancee and I will be landing at Seattle Airport as our POE, on April 22, 2007, from the Philippines on a K-1 Visa. I would like to hear from anyone who has used Seattle as POE on a K-1 Visa lately. Will we be able to go through immigration and customs together? Will she be able to get her EAD then and there? How long will the process take, (we only have 1 hour from landing to catching our next flight to denver)? Can you provide any other helpful information about Seattle POE?

Thanks

Only place that is currently issuing EAD stamp is JFK as far as I know anyway.

As far as getting through in an hour, it depends. If your flight is the only arriving international flight, 1 hour is probably enough time. If there are several flights arriving about the same time, it could take more than an hour to get processed. Depending how your got your tickets, you may simply be bumped to the next available flight. If you purchased the international/domestic tickets seperately, you probably won't. Talk to your travel agent/airline about that.

As far as going together, it depends on the PoE, there is ussualy an immigration officer directing people to the correct lines, ask them.

You can walk with your fiance through the nonUSC line but probably wont be allowed into the secondary area while she is processed. It's highly unlikely you will be able to make a connection one hour from the landing of your overseas flight. Of course it depends on how many international flights are arriving at the same time. It's possible to get though immigration and customs in one hour but then making it to the next flight in that same hour is almost impossible. Not to mention the problems that could arise if your flight arrives late!

You will not make your connecting flight. The immigration line in SEA took about 1 hour, and then since you are K1, you have to go to a secondary area and wait with other K1 applicants and they will ask a few questions and go through your package. That took about 30 minutes. Then you have to go through customs and bag inspection. As far as going through immigrations and customs together, she will be in a different line than you. You, being the USC, will make it through quicker, and you can wait by her line, on the other side, until she gets done, and then go with her to the secondary area. You are allowed to be in the secondary area with her, as they go through her package. And yes you can go through customs together. But definetely plan on catching a later connecting flight.
