Thanks everyone! My fiancee is sending in Packet 3 tomorrow. Feels good to finally be at this stage of the process. I'm gonna head back as soon as I can after we find out when the interview will be. My fiancee was very relieved when I told her the CO also speak Khmer.

I was wondering at what point I should buy her airline ticket. My concern is being able to have seats together for our return to the US. Should I buy both tickets at the same time or buy her ticket later. What are your thoughts/experiences?

Have your fiance talk with the travel agents down there. Ask them to 'hold' a seat for her. Once she's approved go ahead and buy that ticket. That's what I had my fiance did and had no problem with it. No extra charge either. The consulate advise you not to buy the ticket until the visa is in hand. From what I've heard you need to pick up your visa 1 week after approval.

I had read this on Phnom Penh's US Embassy website, so does this mean that one day to get the visa is unlikely? I thought that generally it takes a day or 2 to get the visa upon approval at the conclusion of the interview.

"The average appointment wait time for visitor (B1/B2), student (F,M), exchange visitor (J), and all other non-immigration visas is: here travel.state.gov/visa/temp/wait/tempvisitors_wait.php) The average visa processing time is one day. "

Our papers are being sent on Saturday or Monday to the embassy. So then it should take about 4 to 6 weeks to find out about an interview date? Then it takes about another 4 weeks to the interview? I'm trying to guess-timate when we'll be getting an interview.

One thing I'm concerned about is getting her stuff back to the US. What are some shipping options in case we discover we may far exceed the baggage limits of Eva Air? All input is greatly appreciated.

NT, the wait tmes are for non-immigrant visas, which is what the fiance visa is but P.P. is treating like an immigrant visa and is processed thru the immigrant visa unit. Thier website is confusing.

I took gifts for the family and few clothes for me (you can buy then there) that way I had empty suitcases to put my wife things in for the return. Surprising how much you can stuff in four suitcases. She had everything she owned and we still had room. Buy her suitcases there.

Is anyone willing to bring me back a Canatech Khmer to English electronic dictionary. I will pay all costs.

Sam

I just got an email from USCIS informing me my I129F has been approved and mailed to me on June 27th. The email would have been great news except for the fact that I got my letter in the mail back around May 16!

Do you guys know if the interview at the Embassy will be done with me and my fiancee together or is it done separately?
