It doesn't make a difference whether it's a fiancee or spousal visa. The interview process is very painful, and exact. They look for consistency on the application from NVC, and your fiancee or spouse answers to determine if they are not consistence. If you believe you trained your fiancee or spouse well, then, there is no need to worry. Gather as much information as possible. That is the basis of success!

Does anyone know if the format/content of the interview is any different between a CR1 and K3? Do the consulate focus more on one type of interview over the other?

Also, typically how long does the interview lasts? My wife and I are looking forward to our interview and is very anxious. However there are moments of anxiety for fear of the person conducting the interview can be a complete a$$hole. Thanks for any input!

The interview methodology is the same. The intention of the questions is to determine the legitimacy of the relationship. TIP: They are profiling you, generalizing you; use this as a hint that you must also stereotype them the same way.

The interview is a dynamic process. They may swing one way, or the other depending on how happy they are and what they feel about the interviewee. Remember, they're people. As a matter of fact, only 20 people handle the IV unit and they must undergo enormous stress. Therefore, you will sometimes not get a reply that you want when they answer your question.

The interview can last between 7a to 12p. Sometimes, they would ask you to show up again in the afternoon from 1-4p. This is because they need to double check on your statement because they suspect illigitimate relationship.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi guys!

While I am waiting patiently for my NOA2, I have a few question for those who filed K1. I start to worry when people mention not to send engagement pictures but some say it's depend on some country. I am not sure about Cambodia. When I filed my I-129F, I had submit my engagement pictures to show I am really engaged. Am I going to have any problem? For those who had filed K1 and got approved, did you guys submit your engagement pictures? As we had known, Cambodia traditions tend to have engagement ceromony. So I thought to prove our relationship was real, I had submit those pictures.

Another questions, is my fiance need to have an engagement certificate to show to CO at the interview? Also, is my fiance need to have a document declare that he is single?

Please help out so we can prepare ahead of time. Thanks.

Bubble,

According to tradition, it's common to have engagement ceremony in Cambodia. It's in your best interest to collect all the pictures before heading for the interview. The US Embassy there is not as easy as you think. To take precautionary measure, just heed this advice.

They want to first of all establish your degree of relationship to verify that you are not a phony. As you know, Cambodia is full of phony people. By phony, I mean fake. Think from their perspective, if they have a system of order that they must follow. I have met with the workers while I inquired about my wife's process. They are a very systematic group. If you don't follow their system, you will fall into the depth of oblivion because they will not help you find the solution. You need to be ready for everything.

Hi all, just checking back in. I've recently received my NOA2 approval and our K-1 Visa paperwork was sent over to Cambodia Oct 28.

Just curious, can anyone let me know about timeline expectations with the Cambodian Embassy?

I'm planning a trip over to Cambodia but I'd like to make it as effective as possible so I'm hoping my fiance and I will have received some paperwork to complete in the next month. Is that realistic or am I too hopeful here?

Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry for the late reply.

The timeline is about 3 weeks before the Cambodian Embassy actually receives it. Some people, it's two. If I were you, work here in the states until you know your wife have received packet 3. When she gets it, then you can schedule a flight. However, it takes as much as 30 days to get packet 4 once the embassy receives packet 3.

Thanks for the advice Niels Bohr...I appreciate it.

Congratulations Bubbletea!

Yes, we're pretty much on the same timeline so let's stick together here.

I haven't heard anything back from the embassy but it's only been a few weeks so after the long wait for the NOA2, I'm pretty patient. My only concern is the mailing system in Cambodia...My fiance lives in a village well outside Battambang so I'm anxiously waiting to see if and when she gets the packet through the mail.

I've read some other comments in this thread that allude to a link where all of the Packet 3 information might be...Can anyone tell me if this is still something that is available?

Thanks all for your help.

MLD,

I've checked in the past at the Phnom Penh US Embassy official site. I have not come across Packet 3. However, you may ask through email if they will email it to you. In the past also, some have received a negative response and some have received a positive response through email. Give it a shot.

Hi,

I did actually receive a response to my email from the embassy that was personalized so I'm surprised about that--but, that's a really good sign after going through this initial NOA2 phase here in the US. Evidently, they send the Packet 3 to the petitioner's address? I never woudl have thought that but it makes me feel more confident about the mail system.

Anyway, I've already got a ticket to fly to Cambodia staying the first two weeks in December so I'm excited about another trip. I really enjoy my trips into the country (my fiance lives closest to Battambang)..

Does anyone have any suggestions for things to see (outside the typical tourist sites that is...) around Phnom Penh or Siem Reap?

I would recommend seeing Angkor Thom, Angkor Watt, Bantey Srei, Phnom Kulan (do not take a TUK TUK, take a car...trust me, you will want a car), Phnom Bakeng (go in the afternoon during sunset). Take your digital Camera with you. These places are in Siem Reap which is a short ride from Battambang.

When you're in Phon Kulan, don't foget to take some swim wear because you may want to drop by the waterfall.

All of these are in Siem Riep. I stayed in the Siem Riep Hotel. It's cheap, with A/C, Cable, and Internet. It was $15/day.

Hi guys!!!

Since now I got approved, I am going to gather some documents. My question is how I am going to sent those document to my fiance in Cambodia? I don't want lose those documents. Some of the stuffs, I can sent through email. But for I-134 with notary, they need original right?

By the way, after U.S embassy has receive my case how long are they going to sent out packet 3?

MLD, you already book the ticket already. As for me, I had to wait until my fiance pass the interview. Probably it going to be a few more months. Can't wait to go to Cambodia again.
