Because of the slowness of government mail, it may take about 3 weeks for the Embassy to receive anything from NVC.

I know that the embassy has received my K3 documents from NVC before July 22. I have tried e-mailing the embassy many times for my packet 3. The person that respond to the e-mail is getting on my nerve as he/she doesn't seem to know anything and frankly is quite rude. The sad thing is I am sure the person is Cambodian because of the type of English used in the response.

The person said that my packet was sent on July 22. Neither my wife nor I have received the packet. I asked them to e-mail me the packet but the person keeps avoiding my request. My wife lives in Phnom Penh (same city as the embassy) and I know that it doesn't take 2 weeks to deliver mail.

I feel like whoever answers the e-mail is giving me the runaround. It's frustrating. I tried to call the embassy but their stupid phone system would not allow you to talk to a real person. Does anyone know how I can talk to a REAL human that can answer my question?

Thanks!!

You can try calling the Embassy. I don't know if you'll get through because you'll get an automated response. Yes, depending on the worker who replied to you by email, they may be very rude.

I would suggest getting a lawyer in Cambodia to enter the embassy and speak to an attendant. Give that a try, it may work. Just ask a lawyer by giving him a few hundred dollars. I never tried it, but, it's worth a try.

I personally flew out to Cambodia to get Packet 3. As a matter of fact, I went there so many times that they remembered my face. Sometimes they're rude towards me, and sometimes they're nice. When I caught them after lunch and speak lightly and professionally with them without being rude to them, they tend to help me a lot.

Sometimes I had to be strong and assertive to have them understand the situation. If I have a weak voice, they would've kicked me out or tell me the run-around.

Best of luck, Chet! Glad you found visajourney.

Thanks Consolemaster!

Oh.. I have to vent about something regarding the consulate office. I e-mailed them on a daily basis asking for my Packet 3 that they said they mailed but neither my wife nor I have received. The person that replied to my e-mail keeps on giving me the runaround by telling me to contact USCIS, NVC, wait, or check my "mail service". Yesterday, for the 20th time, I e-mailed and again asked for my Packet 3 to be e-mail or at least confirmed again they have sent the packet related to my NVC case # PHPxxxxxxxx.

The person had the audacity in his/her reply to say that I don't communicate enough with my wife! He/she also said that I should "provide her information to process". What the heck is this person smoking telling me such #######?! First of all, I talk to my wife 2-3 times a day (my phone bill is sky high) and how does this related to me wanting my Packet 3 so I can proceed. Additionally, how the hell can I provide information to my wife if they never provide me the packet 3 in the first place!!!!!

Dealing with people like this really makes my blood boil. I have waisted so much time waiting for Packet 3.

Thanks for listening to my vent!!

When I was at SOS Hospital waiting for my wife's medical examination for the interview, I read that the US Embassy was in need of VISA attendent. In order to be qualified, you must speak and write khmer and have a high school diploma.

Hmmm....That explains why these workers are very arrogant. They only had a high school diploma, and not a college degree. So, they think everyone is dumb.

For those that have gone through the process, I would appreciate your input. Once you send in your K3 Packet 3, how long does it normally take to hear back from the Embassy? Additionally, how many weeks from the receipt date was the interview scheduled? Are talking about weeks or months?

For my interview, it was scheduled 3 months after receipt of packet 3.

Hi All,

I just wanted to check in. I got back from visiting my fiance in Phnom Penh a week ago. We're still waiting on our NOA2 from the VSC but optimistic nonetheless. Although, I'm thinking more and more about heading back over to Cambodia where life is a little bit more simpler and relaxing.....

Hi all,

Reading through the posts in this forum, it appears that the interviews in Vietnam are being conducted with heighten scrutiny and people are being asked to prove their relationships with more evidence than normal. A fair number of people on this board have been deemed to have suspect relationships, with their applications returned to the US. I've seen people commenting on this board that the reason why interviews are tougher in Vietnam is the us government's fear of fraudulent applications in that country.

Has anyone experienced or heard whether the interviews and evidence requirements are tougher in the U.S. I've seen when people comment about their interviews in other countries that they have been nowhere near as hard as it seems the ones in Vietnam are. I haven't seen anything on this board to justify it, but 'm worried that Cambodia might be in the same boat as Vietnam. Does it make a difference whether you are applying for a fiancee or spousal visa?
