Hello everyone,

I am a green card holder and sponsoring my child who is under 21 years old now. I did all the paperwork and right now my son is waiting for an interview in Vietnam. I call NVC yesterday and was told that I have to wait (who knows how long) since his case is in category of F2A and currently they are working on up to the cases of 22 Feb 2015. His priority date is 7/2/15 and his DOB is 7/28/1996 meaning if he does not get an interview sooner than his birthday he may have to wait 5 more years (category F2B - 8 May 2010 as of Visa bulletin for Dec 2016) instead of 5 months in order to come to the U.S. with me. The question is if he does not get an interview before his birthday what is his chance of coming to America in 2017? Does any one know how fast/slow the wait for the interview is? Thank you for reading and answering my post.

How long did it take USCIS to approve the I-130? Under the Child Status Protection Act, that time is not counted against the beneficiary.

If it took 5 months for USCIS to approve the I-130, then your child would have an extra 5 months after turning 21 to remain in the F2a category.

Once his PD becomes current, his CSPA age freezes. It does not matter when his interview happens because his CSPA age freezes for immigration purposes.

He will get his interview in the month that his PD becomes current.
