Big issue- lost greencard

Hello dear visa journey members, yesterday I lost my green card that was in my wallet, ROC will be in juin and I am wondering how can I replace my green card, and what can I show in order to start working I just finished my studies at college and started applying for jobs, or how can I get an ID cuz my passport expired last year and in order to renew it I have to show proof of residence! I am really lost! Ps : I will be applying to remove conditions on my own waiver after my divorce will be final! Thank you

i90 is for replacing lost green cards. I would think the notice of action on getting a replacement card would work for residency.

It's $450 for a new card since you lost it you'll have to pay.

Get an info pass and get a stamp in your passport.

You'll need to have an actual proof of permanent residency to get an ID. Either you have a green card or the temporary green card aka ADIT stamp on your passport to show your status. No other documentation can be accepted in place of those 2 mentioned. Since your passport is expired, you'll need to have it renewed before it can be stamped. For it to be stamped, you'll need to file an I-90 first and pay the fees for a replacement and take that proof of filing to your local uscis field office. You can't have the stamp without proof of filing.

actually it's quite the contrary, most people do carry their green card with them. It would be illegal not to.

That's true, my wife carries hers in her purse but she never takes it out for anything. She uses her DL for that.

Why would you not renew your passport when it was due to expire. You said it expired last year. Passport is the document which defines your citizenship.......not green card. Basically you dont have anything to prove your citizenship at this moment.

True, many don't (including myself) for fairly obvious reasons. But we aren't allowed to say that on here, and posts mentioning it tend to get deleted.

The law states:

(e) Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him pursuant to subsection (d). Any alien who fails to comply with the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction for each offense be fined not to exceed $100 or be imprisoned not more than thirty days, or both.

My drivers license (incorrectly) has 'temp visitor' with the expiry date of my last I-551 stamp next to it - all in red letters.

Which country issued your passport, and why would you need a green card/ID/proof of residence to renew your non-US passport? The two should be completely independent of one another. Having said that, for my I-551 stamp, they certainly did not check that my passport was still valid. Can anyone confirm this is actually a requirement? If not, then go get a stamp in the expired passport.

Personally I think it is pretty pointless splashing out $450 for a lost card that expires in six months and probably won't even have arrived by then anyway! Your lawful permanent resident status does not change, you just need proof of it. So, I suggest you do the following;

1) Renew your passport. If there is a fast-track/premium service then use it.

2) Make an infopass appointment (you can book 14days in advance) and get an I-551 stamp - as long as you have your alien # and proof of identity (your passport, whether expired or valid will do) they will be able to verify your status and will stamp it to the original expiry date of your lost card.

3) File for ROC as normal.

4) You will have to go get another I-551 stamp when you have filed for ROC, as the extension letter they send will be worthless without the lost card. The stamp by itself is accepted however.
