Help, I'm deploying!

So click bait title aside, I really do need some help here. I'm only asking this right now without having talked to the USCIS center because it's late and we just started talking about this, so I'm hoping maybe someone has had a similar issue.

So, I will be deploying soon and my spouse and I still have not had the temporary green card interview scheduled. We saw there was something for expediting the process for deployment, but we have some questions along with that. My spouse has some slightly more than mild social anxiety and being away from his home country alone doesn't really help that. Does anyone know if we do get an expedited process, would he be able to go back to his home country to stay with family so he's not alone for 4 months? We weren't sure if those on a temporary green card were allowed to leave and return without any problems. He's also not currently able to drive and we are unsure if he'd be able to get licensed by the time I leave, therefore not being able to be fully independent for groceries and such. My family is many states away and he's not completely comfortable staying with them as he's only met them a few times and the anxiety doesn't help that whole situation. It'd be the best for him if he could stay back with his family for the short few months I'm gone.

Any information is very highly appreciated. This has been a high stressor for us. Just to be clear I have more than a month and a half to get this taken care of, so it isn't like I'm leaving next week or anything, we just want to get this taken care of as soon as possible.

Thank you for reading.

If you're deploying you can ask for an expedite for his AOS. He won't get a temporary green card, he gets a conditional one if you've been married less than 2 years. He has all the rights that a 10 year LPR has. He can stay 6 months without issues and up to 2 years with a re-entry permit.

I suggest that you get anything together you may need like wills, powers of attorney etc, before you deploy.

I'm glad that matches up with the research I've been doing so far, and yes I meant his AOS haha. That is really great to hear. We planned on starting all of the legal stuff tomorrow so we can get the ball rolling. Thank you for your response.

Contact uscis through the military helpline, u get faster n better (for you) help.

I cannot help you on the expedite part since my husband wasn't getting deployed, and it wouldn't have been any faster anyways for me.

I can tell you that when my husband had to go on training for 2 months I went back to my country of birth myself on a temporary greencard, to stay with family. For about the same reason, being alone and not having any transportation. As long as you dont work abroad, or change residency to another country you are fine. And definately don't stay away too long, it also is abandoning your status. I think 4 months wouldn't be too much of a problem. But if anything you can ask them while calling for the expedite.
