Hi, Was wondering some opinions. My spouse and I were recently married. I went to put him under my health insurance but the the lady in HR kept getting an error because the computer wanted a ss number. Anyway, she wound up putting in the first 9 digits of his Visa control number and the computer took it.

It's my policy so I'm assuming the computer just needs some number to put in there before he can go under my policy as a dependent?

Any thoughts? Just hoping it won't be a problem.

Ok, thank you. I assumed it was just a computer requirement and was hoping it was ok she put in that number.

I guess update it when he receives a ss number?

Yes... It's a mandatory field but any value will work because it doesn't validate the number against a database. Update it when he gets his actual SSN.
