So, im in the same boat as a lot of people and have just received my NOA1 for my AOS, EAD and AP. I have a question I need a little help with. I have been offered a position early next year on board a cruise ship which would be a 4 month contract.

Would I be aloud to do this after I receive me EAD and AP but before I get my GC?

Thanks!

Is the cruise ship entering international water? Of so I'm not sure you may need to call USCIS... If it's remaining with the US then it shouldn't be a problem but you may be out at sea when your interview is and I've heard horror stories of som people trying to reschedule there interviews and instead of USCIS rescheduling them they get a denial letter

Technically if it's leaves the US to go into international water your technically working outside the USA and I think that's a big no no while adjusting but I could be wrong

It will be leaving the US yes. Im just not sure whether or not I can legally leave and work with just my EAD and AP and then re enter. I should maybe give them a call, you are correct. As it would only be 4 months I'm hoping that the interview would be scheduled for sometime after I'm back anyway. I guess you never know with these things though! :)

The average interview time is 7months so technically you should be fine if you just filed but you never know... The EAD takes usually 75-90days to get approved so you may not have your EAD in time to even start the job... Once you have the EAD you can legally work but when international water is concerned I'm not sure how they treat that.. you can reenter on your AP perfectly okie the question is just can you work for a US company with your EAD while in international water is the main concern

Yeh thats what I was confused about too.

I was thinking that if its looking grim for getting my EAD in time i can always try and expedite or I can wait until it comes if the job will still be available (Cruise jobs come up all the time so I'm pretty confident it would be). I will have to call USCIS and get some answers :)

Thanks for your help!

Even before my biometrics interview?

Yeah but sometimes they won't put the card into production until the biometrics is done... There is 1 or 2 people on this forum that got there EAD before the biometrics took place so it is possible but they tend to wait until the biometrics takes place which is usually 2-4weeks after you NOAs
